I saw it online last night, its not hard to find.
It was pretty awesome but they don't really say what planet the aliens are from though. |

It was pretty sweet, but the main character is an annoying douchebag. |
Anyone else think he looked a lot like Steve Carell? |

it was okay. as far as aliens-coming-to-earth movies go, it was pretty good, even. but there's lots of stuff in it that is kind of a stretch to believe in, some plot holes, a genuinely dislikable main character, etc.
best part was the photoshopped tabloid cover with the protagonist and the alien going at it doggy-style.
"you went doggy style with a demon! you are one brave white man! tell me, did you use a condom?" |

Saw this on IMDB and couldn't stop laughing (cause it's true):
| quote: | IF MICHAEL BAY DIRECTED DISTRICT 9:
-Megan Fox would have been cast as the wife. In the name of "character development" she would have had a love scene early on. You know, to establish that they are a happy couple.
-She would have followed her husband into District 9, and they would have spent the movie outrunning explosions together. She probably would have at some point strapped on an ammo belt and suddenly started acting like a trained Green Beret.
-There would have been a couple of "comic-relief" aliens who would have worn gold chains and talked in ebonics.
-More fart jokes.
-The corporation would have been headed by one super-villain type, who controlled everything, instead of there being a series of smaller order-followers. Wikus would have shot it out with him in the big climactic battle scene. The father-in-law character was close to this, but not obvious enough. Had this been a Bay movie, they would have made it more obvious that he was the big villain. He should have been wearing an expensive suit the whole time, and spent more time behind a huge desk, slamming his phone down emphatically after key conversations.
-Johnny Depp would have played a drunken, sexually ambiguous alien with eye liner.
-At some point, Wikus would have shouted "NOOOOOOOOOO!" into the sky as the camera pulled up. Probably while cradling Christopher's dead body in his arms. And it probably would have been raining when he did this.
-Instead of cat food, the aliens would have had a taste for Reese's pieces or some other brand-name food item, and the filmmakers would have gotten a nice chunk of change for the product placement.
-Instead of the whole "documentary" to explain how the aliens got there it would have shown the international space station with a astronaut spacewalking. Then he would have looked up and we would see the alien mothership in his helmets reflection, then it would pan to several different shots of people around the planet as they all look up to see the ship passing by them ( the farmer in the midwest, a group of teens in london, some Muslims praying, etc.) then we would see a group of African kids playing as the mothership flys over them. then the ship stops and the door opens, and you guessed it the aliens walk out followed by a 20 years later title screen. |

Best part! I can actually visualize this 100% :stongue: :stongue: :stongue: |

This. I also thought the robot scene was a little cheesy. Other than that, I definitely enjoyed the movie although it was a little different than what I was expecting. Loved how it left out a lot of minute details that left you room for thought. I really hope they don't ruin it with a sequel. |

love this one...lol. It is a staple of all Michael Bay movies. That, and the part about Megan Fox strapping on an ammo belt and acting like a trained Green Beret

From the trailer seems to be an exploration of intolerance with a nod to apartheid and the global refugee/asyum-seeker problem.. except with aliens, a bit of cgi and action mixed in. Am I on the right track?
Think I might watch it on the weekend. |
