Drum and Bass? How about Vocal Soulful House? Electro? Dub? Funk? Ever heard that at some parties? |

Everything minus the drum & bass, it doesn't really mix well with most 4/4 dance music, and while I like the liquid funk stuff, DnB is just a bit too fast for me personally.
Not sure what you're getting at here alan. I fail to see any events in LA that truly concentrate on "a certain type of music only". |

Thats the point. We arent constrained. We had SILKY headline(tech house) and KURU of Muse close the night (drum and bass). We almost had PHOTEK if the schedules didnt work out.
Julia it seems is not too hot about the about DJs usually booked in LA from the techno+house genre. If she likes some of our bookings, then Im explaining to her that INCOGNITO is different in the sense that we will mix genre's in one night, as well as mix headliners from different genre's as well.
Will any of the promoters you mentioned ever have Marshall Jefferson headline? I doubt it. But we have and will. I also doubt also any of those events will have Eric Kupper headline or have Bonnie Bailey or Samantha James sing at those events. We have, while at the same time, also have DJs like Ekkohaus, Ida Engberg, Rolf Kollman playing in the next few weeks.
We are not constrained to one specific style of music. There will be times Julia will not like our programming for that night. Sometimes she might. |

Ok, clearly, I haven't been out in a while, so I'm judging the music I've heard within the past 2 years when I was still going out.
Ryan & Bas, I'm not going to name any names, because I don't want to sound like I'm bashing anyone... but I'll at least mention Magda at the Standard in September, and even Burridge & Lawler that time @ Avalon. Boring-est sets EVER (especially Magda's set)!!! So disappointing. That night Burridge & Lawler played, I actually liked Clovis's opening set way better.
Perhaps the music dj's are playing nowadays are getting better, and they are stepping away from that terrible zombie like mnml crap. Yes, I do need to go out more often now and hear what is out there. I'm bummed I missed out on a lot of good music like you guys were mentioning.
But I do have to say that Incognito is booking a lot of "different" genre's of music, which a lot of the other parties don't do. Like what other parties would book a Border Community DJ? Droid? Droog? Avalon? I think not. |
