indeeed. I like the opening one but it builds an atmosphere which then drops a bit when the next track comes in. would've been awesome if it kinda flowed more seamless but that's just nitpicking on what has been the best 'trance' ess mix in a long time. |

| i've had y first full listen today having finally got something other than my laptop speakers to hear it on and I think it's excellent. The born slippy thing, well it's not THAT bad and works in some ways. I'd enjoy it anyway. |

It's not bad as such, it's just unnecessary, pointless and out of character with the rest of this set. The thing about this kind of good trance is how it can put you in your own headspace where the melodies and the atmospherics evoke things personal to you... it entrances. And then Karl Hyde comes in and suddenly you're on a sticky dancefloor and everyone around you is chanting "Lager lager lager!" It's just too obvious, too anthemic, too crowd-pleasing. |

As I said, I just don't think it fits. A mash-up with a famous vocal is just designed for that crowd-recognition moment, and it reminds me of too many times I've heard Born Slippy in crap clubs.
I definitely feel J00F's intention was to show Radio 1 listeners a side of trance most don't realise exists, especially with all the unreleased tracks he dropped. Playing Born Slippy at the end doesn't fit with that. |
