just say what you have taken before to the doctor and why they didn't work.

there are a ton of anti depressants on the market, and not all of them work for everyone. Doing it on your own is not a good idea. Think about it.

haha yeah i see your point :p
well i was on citalopram before... i was told they were non-adictive, and non drowsy.. them fukkas were like doing really smacky E's
Lews
Ahh yeah. Been on those. They didn't really do to me, positive or negative.

well i was told theyd take 4 weeks to get into my system and start doing me some good.. but after 2 weeks i was a mess, they were forcing me to have really violent panic attacks, so i came straight off of them. im just on propanalol [beta blockers] at the minute. they dont seem to really do anything
Lews
Usually you have no positive gains for about a month, but from 1-3 weeks or so you have all the bad side effects. It can be a bitch, depending on what it is. Mirtazapine was giving me hallucinations, was crazy.

Currently though I'm just on Metropolol [beta blockers] and some xanax and alcohol :p

Beta blockers shouldn't have any negative side effects, though they might make you a little bit depressed. Also they increase your attention span and focus! :)

beta blockers do not cure depression.

no anti depressant is instant and it does take time. One failure does not mean another will not work. Do some reading up on it and show up to your doctor prepared. Look at it this way, the baby is not born yet, so you have the time to fix this before it is. Waiting around will not do anything. I don't mean to be insulting with the next comment, but if you drank every day for 10 years, you are not equipped to do it yourself.

I mean this in the nicest of ways too.

ah well these beta blockers dont really seem to do anything at all really. ive had this thing for 2 and a half years now, i was on propanolol for about 6 months, and i figured they wernt doing anything, so i went to the docs and tried the citalopram, but they ed me up.. so i went back on the beta blockers for another yearish. then i decided to go cold turkey and just not take anything, and it was hard but manageable. i was hoping that eventually id subconciously realise that i didnt need them and id get better on my own, but i guess it didnt work. i got married last year, so i had the stress of all that, so i went to the docs and went back on the beta blockers, and its been about 5 months since i stopped drinking on weeknights, which makes things harder for me.

so thats my life generally in a nutshell right now. im told that having a baby will sort me out, who knows.. maybe it will.. maybe it wont

how about instead of "it might sort me out it might not" you change that to "i better get control of my life and health before it s up the lives of others that i am responsible for."

change that frame of mind and you are already a bajillion times better off.

babies just don't "sort you out"...the load of badly raised children out there speak for that quite immensely. YOU sort yourself out;)

you are taking on the biggest responsibility of your life, you have to start being responsible to you too.

ah yeah i know.. the drinking thing.. it was only 4 cans of stella a night.. but i drank more on a weekend. i was never on spirits or anything daft like that. the drinking im coming to terms with now.. its not that hard... but i dont think i could stop it all together. i dont drink to get drunk, its just i have a little bit of a drink to separate myself from work and stuff. over the last 2 and a half years, having a drink everynight helped calm my nerves from the panic disorder.. so not drinking is a little tough, but i can manage. i just dont want to end up on meds that will ruin my life and turn me into a zombie

The one time I ever agreed to take anti-depressants they ended up having the opposite effect and caused an even greater degree of depression along with some suicidal thoughts thrown in for fun. Stopped taking them immediately and it cleared up, was still incredibly terrifying, pretty much scared me off the things for good. :p
