Obama healthcare passes (pg. 2)

basically people will be forced to have health insurance. This means it will be illegal not to have it. Employers must provide it to their employees and insurance companies have to change their mandate to take on clients (Basically reduce their acceptance standards)

This is good for the healthcare providers and manufacturers but, on the contrary to what i initially thought, it should adversely effect insurance companies as they will not be as profitable due to more claims being met.

so perhaps we will see a big drop in the markets tomorrow in the insurance/financial sector.

Ok just to clarify - everyone in the US has to buy health insurance now - but if they are poor they pay less?

Is this the new universal healthcare?

Where as before the hospitals paid for emergency care and people went broke if they had money?

BTW will the health insurance industry make more money than the health care system will cost?

I smell new jobs for clerical work in the insurance industry.

i dont think this will help insurance companies. Sure they will have more clients but the percentage of claims will dramatically go up. Those who were denied insurance before must be insured and the can only charge so much of a premium to those of high risks.

This could hurt the financial markets pretty bad.

you're about as likely to be able to understand the complexities of the health bill as you are to win a self-represented court case for being a thieving little bastard.

History was indeed made today... for the first time in U.S. history, major legislation was passed that undermined a vast majority of the people's wishes. 234 years as a representative republic is over- and I'm not being melodramatic; those Americans on here that believe it's fine for the politicians that WE elect to not actually represent those who elected them... well, you know the rest. This is what you voted for; all these comments are from the last few days:

quote:
OBAMA: "I don’t spend a lot of time worrying about what the procedural rules are in the House or Senate."

quote:
Democrat Congressman (and impeached judge) Alcee Hastings:

There ain't no rules around here, we're trying to accomplish something. And therefore, when the deal goes down, all this talk about rules, we make them up as we go along.

quote:
Democrat Rep. Tom Perriello of Virginia:

The only way to get Congress to balance a budget is to give them no choice; If you don't tie our hands, we will keep stealing.

quote:
Nancy Pelosi: We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.

But it's for our own good... what do we know? Mark Steyn sums it up best:

quote:
We hard-hearted small-government guys are often damned as selfish types who care nothing for the general welfare. But, as the Greek protests make plain, nothing makes an individual more selfish than the socially equitable communitarianism of big government: Once a chap's enjoying the fruits of government health care, government-paid vacation, government-funded early retirement, and all the rest, he couldn't give a hoot about the general societal interest; he's got his, and to hell with everyone else. People's sense of entitlement endures long after the entitlement has ceased to make sense.
