Peut-être que c'est pas si fou après tout.

Honnestly after seeing the reaction of people on Facebook this week, I'm starting to think that this policy could greatly improve piknic. Of course I'm not happy with the fact that I can no longer bring my 12 cans every sunday but on the other hand, this policy will probably mean a bit less people every Sunday which is a good thing. More room to dance. I was getting ridiculously packed every Sunday the past two summers.
Second, the crowd quality will improve since more people will be there for the right reason: the music.
Thirdly, since it will obviously cost more to people who wanna drink, the crowd's average age should be older again.

More music lovers + older crowd = better atmosphere!
Just like it was originally when piknic started!

This policy could very well do a much needed clean up at piknic. Let's see how this unfolds in May/June. I pretty sure that the people who say are boycotting the event now will end up coming back when they see that tons of people are still going and they are missing out on the fun. Plus the line-up is not even out yet, I'm pretty sure that they have amazing bookings again this summer, people will quickly forget about the policy after the line-up's out..

+1 to all that

The only thing that pisses me off is the quality of alcohol sold. I enjoy my brown havana club and coke very much ( i buy my coke there! ).

Hopefully they'll add more choices!

Nobody complains about Osheaga selling alcohol, but suddenly because its piknic its big drama.

this whole controversy makes no sense at all.

it's quite simple. you offer something good (allowing ppl to bring alcohol). people enjoy it.

then some douchebags come and ruin it for everyone (abuse from a few that ruin it for everyone).

the situation starts to attract attention of authorities. authorities realise that the law is not applied and decides to stop looking away because of all the trouble.

so the "something good" of the beginning becomes out of hand and you have to take away the "something good".

that's what happen.

either they stop allowing ppl to bring alcohol or they stop the event.

i hope they increase the entry price so ppl come for music and not just to get ed up on a sunday afternoon.

i've been telling Michel for years to increase price to 15$ and he wont budge.

these guys are not in it for the money, and that's a fact.

what you don't realise is that IF THEY STOP ENJOYING PIKNIC, THEY WILL STOP. And right now, they are not enjoying organising this event.

why wouldnt the piknic staff enjoy themselves? theyre due to make a lot more money this year and have a lot less ed up ppl... wouldnt that be something positive?
brancatella
increasing the entry fee along with no alcohol would not be right...

I hear you, but if it did happen, $15 to see excellent DJs in an amazing setting without the ability to BYOB and you're still way ahead of any afterhours club I know of.
