Does anyone know if we we're allowed to bring our own alcohol during Grand Prix...which is also located at Parc Jean-Drapeau? |

If this is about underage drinkers, why not block them out?? and/or give a bracelet to 18+ attendees that will be easy to spot.
The problem's root is of people's abuse of drugs, as I have mentionned before in other threads about piknic... but whatever, hopefully this will keep out those ing hippies that can't afford a beer.
Looking forward to that press release. |

what Malek said can work, and hope they resort to that method
Im not sure how piknic works, i know they are somewhat funded by the gov, but can this be just a cash grab?
like $10 for ticks, thats all they charge, where do they make their money? off of hot-dogs?
we do live in a capitalist world here, im sure someone wants to make more money somehow
could be wrong, someone can shed more light, im curious to know |

I think I spend more on the hot dogs than on admission LOL
The highest Piknic could charge has to be like $15-$20 per person (if they ever wanted to keep their clientele). Not sure how many of you would be willing to pay $30+. Seeing your already complaining about having to pay for alcohol. I guess they could charge $30 and make it 18+ only and allow you to bring your own alcohol.
The bracelet would work. Only thing is, they would have to tell the people selling the alcohol, if someone walked up with a bracelet in their hand and not on their wrist, they would tell the kids to amscray or get security involved (to toss the little ******s out) |

you should see michel quintal's wall. they are fully expecting this news to be very harsh. they are not doing it because they want to. piknic simply got out of hand at some point and now they have critical decisions to make.
While some alternatives could be studied, I have the firm impression this change is "suggested" by the authorities |

like bran said
if you remove the right to bring in alcohol more people will resort to taking drugs
drugs = cheaper than 8$ vodka/guru's
if they had a problem with underage drinking, why don't they card anyone at the door who has booze on them?
personally, i think this has nothing to do with us and everything to do with the $$$...
I'm a piknic soldier, I'll be there regardless, I just think it's too bad.... what's next 15$ entrance... then 20$????? |

Why not just make Piknic 18+ like they did with Igloofest? Card everyone, so then we can still bring our beer. Whats a Piknic without beer? |

Because the point of Piknic is to spend a day outside, listening to music, and have the chance to spend that day with family, friends and kids.
And that is more important then to get wasted on a cheap budget.
It's not a big deal. Either you go easier on your drinking, or you bring a few extra bucks. |

This blows!
And for real, this is asking for even more trouble: less booze = more drugs. And that's bad considering ppl are already pretty ed up. |

This argument doesn't make any sense at all. The importance of spending time with family and friends at Piknik has no relation to the significance of the substantial increase in cost of a Sunday at Piknik.

Oh whatever. Get off your high horse. Do you really think that this measure is going to impede people from getting as ed up as they want to get? Also, it's going to cost quite a bit more than "a few extra bucks".
It is a big deal for Piknik. The allure of Piknik was something you could do on a Sunday with family and friends, without having to spend much money. It is more of a casual outing. Now this will either cause people to go less often or do more drugs. This will definitely change the laid-back atmosphere of Piknik. |
