But I want to get drunk on Havana Club and or Grand Marnier, but they won't have it...
Families at piknic is stupid, seriously, anyone bringing his kids their needs a beating. |

| Haha. The countless numbers of mothers I saw fkd out of their mind while their kids are left alone in the inflatable castle. Pretty sad. Buncha hippies. I am also against having kids at piknic. Not a "family" outing at all. Kids don't belong where there is alcohol loud music and drugs. 18+ all the way! |

This argument doesn't make any sense at all. The importance of spending time with family and friends at Piknik has no relation to the significance of the substantial increase in cost of a Sunday at Piknik.
Oh whatever. Get off your high horse. Do you really think that this measure is going to impede people from getting as ed up as they want to get? Also, it's going to cost quite a bit more than "a few extra bucks".
It is a big deal for Piknik. The allure of Piknik was something you could do on a Sunday with family and friends, without having to spend much money. It is more of a casual outing. Now this will either cause people to go less often or do more drugs. This will definitely change the laid-back atmosphere of Piknik. |
1- My argument makes a lot of sense because it was a reply to the prior post saying that Piknic should be 18+ in order to let people bring their own alcool.
So my answer is: Piknic is an outside, day time, family event. So it shouldn't be otherwise just so you can save a few bucks on a beer. And that if you drink moderatly and not like a ing pig, then you shouldn't see such a huge difference on your wallet to have a few beers.
It should be an overall sober day and they should also be much more strict on drug surveillance.
I never said anything about if that measure would have any affect on how people get ed up. Obviously that measure does not please Piknic and they had to do it for some reason. So just deal with it. If people would know how to behave by themselves we wouldn't need rules. |

the reality of things is, allot of underaged kids were coming to piknic with booze and getting totally ruined, the site was attracting allot of police so by not allowing any booze from outside controls the underaged drinking.
which is a particular reason why i think this is happening it sucks but maybe it will control the amount of young bloods that come to piknic and act a fool |
so u're saying they are still gonna make it an "all-ages" event, let in anyone of any age but when they get to the bar, every bartender will card any client who looks underage? hello, 45 min wait for drinks.
and instead of coming down hard on underage kids, how about coming down harder on the legal-age GHB freaks who OD every month? they get too ed, ban them, point final.
in my humble opinion, i think piknic should be 18+, end of story. the second you have an event that attracts recreational activities such as snorting blow & alcohol galore...an 18+ rule should be in place immediately. i mean, i dont see many children under the age of 12 hanging out with their parents...they aren't rly the demographic that will make or break piknic's attendance.
just my opnion...but having to buy your booze = bottle service will surely be available? i'm assuming but it seems logical...what's next? "broooooooo, we gotta buy 2 bottles of goose to get a booth" aka humongous bean bag...pfffff, that's the last thing i wanna see is fkn bottle poppers with daddy's credit card.
it rly sucks tho, im a poor student, i work as a waitress. everytime i go out & buy drinks to have a lil fun, it's easily $6-$10 per drink, plus tip of between $2-$4. plus my 10$ entrance for the event...by 7pm, i'll have spent well over 100$. just not in my budget to do that every sunday. i have a feeling i'll defo have to wisely pick and choose the events i attend...preferably on a payweek :(
i love piknic, i'm just very curious to see what kind of effect this rule will have. i vote for 'more ppl taking hard drugs' and seeing even more ed up ODs on a more regular basis...hopefully not! |

Well either way, piknic will probably come out with an answer and their vision as far as if this should be an adult party day or a family day.
One thing is for sure, they obvioulsy can't keep things as they were if they need to apply this rule. |

Because the point of Piknic is to spend a day outside, listening to music, and have the chance to spend that day with family, friends and kids.
And that is more important then to get wasted on a cheap budget.
It's not a big deal. Either you go easier on your drinking, or you bring a few extra bucks. |
Honestly, if you're bringing your kids to Piknic I'm questioning your parenting skills. I see these moms with their 4-5 year olds on their shoulders, walking around with the music blasting in their ears, kids smoking pot all over the place, gay dudes making out.. It's fun, and I have no problem with all of the above, but it's not for kids. If you wanna spend quality time with your kids, go to the Biosphere, or to a museum, or to the Old Port. |

next will be bottle service and Piknic will turn into Jersey Shore :p
BYOB, sunny weather and kids just seemed like a curious mix.. convenient but curious. I think ppl who will wanna pop will pop regardless of the cost of booze. Heavy drinkers aren't poppers and heavy poppers aren't drinkers, for the most part. I could be wrong, however :p |

You see, when guys from Piknic started this thing, it was about spending a nice day outside and being able to bring your kids.
Your answer is what stupid people made of it and what the event as become. And now that everybody doesn't know how to behave, then block out the families. Do a 18+ so people can get ed up and save on beer.
What about if that wasn't the first initial goal of this organization?
I actually think it's a beautiful thing that kids and families can spend the day there. And that if you don't put the kid 3 feet away from the speaker, it's quite nice and you have all evening and all week-end to get ed up in 100 different ways and place.
And btw 2 guys making out is not worst or better than 2 straights making out. Were not in the 50's. |

it's nice martin, for sure.
in a hypothetical world.
it just doesn't work anymore. drugs and booze have defo corrupted the "family side" of piknic...it's been years it's like this too... |

This is what I'm getting at. For many youth, students or newly working, disallowing BYOB either makes the event less accessible or encourages drug usage because of their limited amount of disposable income.
Of course there is the middle ground of just drinking less, but you would be living in a fantasy world to think that a majority of Piknik's regular attendees wouldn't supplement less drinking with more drug usage. |

My problem is I have a high alcohol tolerance. For me to feel loose and in the mood to dance, I need like 5-6 beers in me. I don't really wanna spend $50-60 when I go to Piknic..
I don't go to Piknic to get ed out of my mind, throw up all over the place, and start fights either.. I'm talking about getting a little happy here. |
