I enjoyed risen, but the combat is rather awful, especially if you play as a mage like I do. If you’ve played gothic it shouldn’t be a problem though. It’s the usual story, many European developers without heaps of $$ to their name make great, unpolished games that can be difficult to love, but if you forgive them in certain areas the games really are awesome.

Oh , I didn't even notice you guys were talking about Divinity II in this thread.

Divine Divinity is by far my favorite RPG of all time. Just from a really small, European company, but ing awesome. Bought it a month or so after it came out and still playing it now, 7 or 8 years later.

Still haven't had a chance to play Divinity II, sadly, but really looking forward to it if its anything like the first one.

I loved divinity 2 so much I thought about getting the previous titles, but couldn’t pass up $20 for oblivion. divinity 2 would be in my top 5 RPGs of all time, loved the hell out of it even if its story options were a little lacklustre and you didn’t really get to affect much in the narrative. Just loved the combat and the loot and freedom of character progression.

Can’t wait for the expansion out later this year.

I highly, highly, highly recommend you check out the original then. I, personally, would pass on Beyond Divinity, though. If you can get it on sale for like $5 it's interesting, but no where near as good as the original, which is ing awesome. So awesome I have 3 copies :o

The freedom of character progression is so bloody great in those games. I love it so much. And just the huge ass world and the loot and everything.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it, I'll definitely pick it up this summer.

Did you ever go on the developers forums? I used to be pretty active there. Probably still have the one of the highest number of posts there :o

Larian is a great game developer. I love finding really small, independent, European developers like them who really, really love what they're making and make just brilliant games.

Only lurked at larian’s forums, to check out bugs/fixes etc before I got it. now just to see info on the expansion. Will look into getting the original after im done with oblivion, which could be months!
Lews
Haha I hear you. Just make sure you pick it up some time. It's well worth it :)

I still need to pick up Oblivion one of these days. After Divinity II.

I gave up on Risen halfway through, cause the combat was so annoying

sorry, but that makes you sound like a noob. my previous PC was more than 5 years old when i upgraded. my current one is more than 3 years old, and crysis is the only game where ive had to fiddle with settings to get it running smoothly.

PC requirements have plateaued, in part due to cross platform gaming. the only upgrade ill need to do in the next 2 years is windows 7 + more ram, and ram's cheaper than sushi's mum these days.

only console cretins complain about the supposed "constant" and "expensive" upgrade cycle. it doesn't exist.
