It depends on the strategy.

I used to call the US customs and pretend to cry and blame them for getting me "fired". It got enough affection that my containers would get released with almost no delay.

Hypomania is characterized by a period of outgoing and daring attitude, and high motivation. Does not sound like me in the least.

Brian, I don't think you're depressed, you behave in a more bipolar type II fashion. I say this because your behavior reminds me of myself and I've been diagnosed bipolar by 3 different psychiatrists.

Every once in a while you make a thread like this, then you bounce back. You're cycling between depression and hypomania (not full-blown mania from what I've seen on here).

When you're hypomanic you are motivated, but all over the place. After some time, you might reflect that you wasted all your time doing nothing and that makes you more depressed. I'm similar, but probably more scatter-brained than you.

Remember that talk we had on AIM about synaesthesia and music and human sensory perception. How my mind was racing from topic to topic? If you exhibit the same behavior when you're not depressed, it's likely that you could be bipolar.

UUUUUUUHHHHHHH no.

Not the JBJ I know. It's just not him. Never will be him, unless he follows some of the more ridiculous suggestions listed in this thread which could result in the deregulation of cerebral chemistry.

He's just too cool :toocool:

I've been trying to do that for god knows how long. It works... but only momentarily. Have a nice day telling yourself it's a nice day, wake up the next day, have a bit of stress and it's back to square one again.

I mean, I'm sorry but you guys sometimes are just retarded. It's like... someone's depressed and you reply "why don't you get happy then?". You think we don't ing try that?

Onto another point someone came up with: radical changes. They're great, I have witnessed it, but there's a limit to how radical a realistic change can be. Some people might be able to throw your life away and suddenly try to do something completely different. But not all.

The funny thing is, you weren't always like this, JBJ. I remember not too long ago you used to talk with passion about the music you liked, you'd PM me about cool tracks you'd found, you had a quest and a goal to write lush, melodic dance music. You seemed to talk about working out and exercising more as well.

However, all this slowly fell off. You seemed frustrated by your music production attempts, and your lush melodic quest seemed to fizzle out. You declared yourself "Bored with music" and stopped talking passionately about tracks you liked. You made more and more downbeat posts in the COR, and I remember Domesticated noting how you'd turned into an "emo" at one point.

This doesn't seem to be a perpetual state of mind for you, but rather something that's progressively developed over a year or two. Has something, anything happened in that time? It could be either material or mental.

Very true.

That was before I concluded that I rather suck at making music. I tend to define myself by the things I think I am good at. Then when I find out I'm actually poor or mediocre at them it deals a huge blow to my ego. But I always seem to recover after a while.
