And I believe you, Jenny. When I watched "District 9" it made me anxious because it seemed they were trying to talk like me but didn't quite get it right... perhaps they too grew up watching to many cheesy British sitcoms and wound up speaking with a funny accent :D

Agreed! I'm no expert as you are on accents..but I definitely know when sounds off, and they def did a poor job in that flick.
I love that accent though...something comforting and enveloping about it.

Born in America. Raised for a bit in South Africa. Live in Seattle, WA.
Unfortunately (or fortunately) I was in SA long enough to pick up the accent. Sort of. It kind of comes and goes randomly, though if I want to I can talk in it or not. I don't even know if that makes any sense at all. It doesn't to me.
I don't know what the hell is with my brain/voice :(
