Depression and intelligence (pg. 8)

I imagine intelligence, knowledge, and reasoning would lead one towards enlightenment. You reach that point where you are enlightened about life and how to perceive the different aspects of life in a way that allows you to be content at any point you wish to be, or limit sadness and negative thought. You cant do this by being ignorant or without intelligence. So I dont think intelligence or knowledge would result in depression, because if you're truly intelligent, then you will find a way around any depressive thoughts or supressive limitations. You would have an understanding of things, even the grim things of life, and draw your own picture, or even reason with it.
Personally, through knowledge I continually gain strength, every day I am closer to enlightenment, and every day I am happier because of my knowledge and intelligence. And this while seeing the atrocities of this world, being cycnical, and seeing realities of this world. But again, intelligence and knowledge can fix what is dark by brining light to it. I think the power of perception has to be coupled with gaining knowledge and having intelligence, you have to be able to perceive things in a way that creates some form of happiness, regardless of what the reality might be. |

my guess is that every time you think that, you're probably farther from it |

You lack the social charisma that is necessary for that type of control. As much as you want to control the masses, they need to actually like you to enable that level of control. |

All I'm doing is making an observation based on your behaviour here. |

If you were intelligent, you'd know that the argument that people who are intelligent are more likely to get depressed, doesn't necessarily mean that everyone who is intelligent are depressed. Basic logic here. :p |

...And if you were intelligent, you'd shut your slutty mouth!
...Or realize I was addressing a common perception in my post, to make sure my fragile ego isn't wounded by misunderstandings. |

Intelligence may have a determinate meaning within a theoretical framework in a (few) branch(es) of psychology, but in folk psychology? Nah, I don't think intelligence is meaningful at all, so I wouldn't say anyone is intelligent :D |
