I think for the great service, great food and awesome atmosphere its worth the price. Some of my absolute favorite memories of Toronto have been at that place.

Sasha got me hooked.. I take everyone there .. ask Jill, Geoff and Tara haha <3

How has someone not mentioned GIANCARLO!
Its Nathan Barato's resto on College. Fabulous Italian food :) and sexxy servers/bartenders. rawwr.
;)

eeh i dunno :) belly dancing was awesome and the decor too but my wallet didn't appreciate the splurge
at least do not invite ppl there for birthdays lol we ended up covering someone else's portion of the bill because she left only $20 before leaving, disaster!

it's also ridiculously overpriced lol :) I don't recommend it to anyone, cos I ended up paying close to $80 just for myself there once

jesus, you think everywhere is "overpriced". you must be a total pleasure to dine with. swiss chalet every time. lol

price is often a reflection on the food quality and the atmosphere. sure you can eat sushi for $20 and think it is worth it but when you go to nami (or anywhere else that serves quality fish) and you end up paying $60-80 per meal then you understand why... unless your palette is so basic that you cannot taste the difference.

Without question (because I've tried all of the bbq/slow smoked/pulled pork places in the core South of Eglinton) the best pulled pork & beef brisket is served at Phil's Original BBQ at Ossington and College. It's worth the trek over there as the prices are quite good for the amount of food you get, and the fact that the place permanently smells like a backyard bbq just adds to the awesome!

thank you!

ive actually been wanting to find a good bbq place in the toronto area that can compete with the places down south. i definitely gotta try this place out very soon.

lol def gonna agree with you Jay.

As for Sultan's Tent, I went there with a friend for my birthday last year. It was absolutely amazing. We had our own private 'tent' and we both had an insane 4 course meal. That with a decent bottle of wine and it was still under 200$ .. thats pretty awesome to me. Throw in the live/interactive belly dancer and how much fun I had and it was definitely worth the $.

I think 'pricey' is when you get teeny tiny amounts of ty food for ridiculous prices.

I swear my dad's favorite restaurant is Swiss Chalet. I like the lower priced places, but I certainly don't mind paying $200 for a 2 person meal if it's unique, good quality, good tasting food. Even more so when the service, atmosphere etc. are top notch. Fine dining is more of an experience to me than just something to eat.

However, that being said. There are a lot of places that charge that much for a meal and actually AREN'T worth it.

It's on par with anything I've had in Georgia or South Carolina, and I actually prefer Phil's sauce over the ones I've had down south.

FYI, it's not open Sundays.

theres also a fabulous Moroccan place on front street called The Sultan's Tent. belly dancers, awesome awesome food and its adorable. Definitely recommend it

I'll have to check that out. I haven't had any Moroccan cuisine since I left France.

The Highroller
Colombo's at Woodbine & Danforth for amazing takeout pizza

Gio Rana's Really Really Nice Restaurant (aka The Nose) in Leslieville for Italian

Toast in Leslieville for Brunch

Pure Spirits Oyster House & Grill in the Distillery District for oysters (duh). Try their oyster poutine: insanely good!

Although they're not really restaurants try Moonbean in Kensington Market for coffee beans and Te Aro in Leslieville for lattes that will knock you off your feet.

I didn't think I need to list ALL of the fine dining places I've been to, to reflect that I ain't cheap
Nyood wasn't cheap at all, but I can't wait to go back! the atmosphere was just right, the server was extremely courteous, etc etc

I didn't feel that even with the belly dancing show, the food was worth the price at Sultan's Tent, that is all.
