I prefer washing...cause if you dry them you also have to put them away.

I wash, put in a rack to dry, then Mrs. Hazard puts them away in the morning.

It's better than Jimmy dries anyway, because I can't reach the tall cupboards to put stuff away. Heehee.

The wife works more (scheduled) hours than me, so the majority of the housework tends to rest on my shoulders. She's not really a kitchen person either, so I do 99% of the cooking. Major cleanups that need to be done around the apartment we tend to do together, and she will help with easy chores like the dishes a few time a week, but I have considerably more time to take care of the little day-to-day tasks.

I actually just finished folding the laundry, and am heading out to do some groceries in a bit. Tedious piecework at times, but on the whole I'd rather be out on my bike hitting up neighbourhood produce stands than stuck behind a desk. She's working toward extracating herself from the latter, as we'd like to be able to both work from home at some point and time.

The ? You hold no sway over Gygaxian archetypes! NONE.

My dad used to call my sister and I troglodytes all the time. GOOD DAY, SIR.

Well I mop, sweep, cook, do the dishes, do the laundry, sweep the deck, clean the windows/mirrors, vacuum, and iron my own clothes.

He catches spiders, stares out the window all day, gets his hair all over my stuff, sullies the cat-box, tears up my couch, knocks over vases, drinks out of my freshly poured glass of water even if he has his own, darts around corners at lightning speed, walks on my face at night and whines incessantly to get my attention or just whenever the porch door is open but the screen is still shut.

We've lived together for over 2 years now and we're still figuring it out. :)

We'll get into a really good swing, but then one of us will get distracted (either by my production/DJing/event promotion or by her dog rescue adventures) and it throws things off balance.

We've been doing pretty well playing it by ear up until now, but we've decided that we're going to start on an actual organized daily chore list, just to help with the consistency.

We have come to a few nice agreements, though. I hate folding laundry, she hates putting it away. So we each take on the lesser of two evils. :) etc.

On the subject of the unemployed/housewife thing, I essentially agree with Jennypie... I think the unemployed person should be doing most of the housework, but anything after the 9 - 5 should be shared. Throw a toddler into that mix and it makes even that much more sense... my job ends at 5:00, my girlfriend's never does. So, I try to support her as much as I can when I get home. As long as I'm not inundated with a honey-do list at the door or something, lol.

Fine, go ahead and search the word on TA and see who's used it the most.:o

So you know your own. Big whoop.

Oh, and just to give a different perspective... back when I was married, I did all the housework while she went out and stimulated the genitals of a large part of southwestern Ohio's population, as well as some business trips out to California and elsewhere.

so if the housewife does the dishes and dusts between 9-5 and then you get home and she wants you to cook dinner, vacuum, and do laundry that seems fair. Sure, if they actually put in a 8 hour day of work then I would agree anything that needs to be done at night should be split.
