you don't think you're paranoid, but you feel awkward around cops?
cops are suppose to watch people. that's their job in this security thing. if you aren't doing anything wrong, why should it bother you that cops are watching you?
taking pics... not a good idea at any of these security things as someone might mistaken you for disturber getting intelligence to plan an attack or something

You can't deny even if they are doing their jobs, it's a bit unnerving to see so much police presence when you're not used to it (and who is). In my 10 min walk down wellington this morning I must have seen at least 30 cops, more once you get closer to Bay St. I found myself walking in the middle of a group of four of them and felt pretty important, like I had a hot police escort group for me to get safely to work :D
I'm so relieved to be leaving Toronto tonight til Sunday. It's only going to get more intense as the week goes on.

Anyways...I'm kinda glad I'm missing this whole thing. I only get back to Canada on July 7th and this'll be long over by then. Praying nothing bad happens though.

lol okie dokie ~ just sharing my experience (which has been similar to others I have spoken to....)
Hunny I don't feel awkward around cops - I was with one for awhile.... I do feel awkward when (two weeks prior to the event that is necessitating their presence), a familiar neighborhood is teeming with law enforcement, police vans are slowing down while driving by me and, cops are turning their heads to watch people as they walk by. It's not exactly something I've experienced before.... It looks like something out of a movie.

funny you say this.. i got harassed by a cop last week for taking a picture. He demanded i give him my camera. I asked if i was under arrest and walked away. This was in a public place.
This had nothing to do with G20 btw. with Cops are getting more and more nervy around here.

do you think that its capable of anyone to follow the law 100 percent of the time? if you are constantly being watched, eventually u are going to slip up and have to pay the piper. Thats the whole point of a police state:

It is your given right to take pictures. Yohan, yes you could be planning something, but what about the million and one media staff with cameras? Cops accusing you of 'planning an attack' is just fear mongering, and I would stand up for my right to take a picture of anything I want.
The TTC tried the same bull on me after the London bombings. I took out my camera it take a picture of a crowded platform due to a late train. One of the supervisors said, that I wasn't allowed to take pics, when I asked why, he replied "because of what happened in London, hello". I quickly threw the TTC's own by-law at him, which allows private citizens to take picture for non-commercial use without a permit, non of which mentioned anything about terrorism.
If you are not doing anything wrong stand firm. This summit is not an excuse for idiot meat head cops to trample on a citizen's rights.

this goes for the summit or any other time. Know your rights. Everytime the cops try to bully, i let them know that i know my rights. Although im sure one day im gonna end up taking the Cherry Beach express. :nervous:
