| mfitterer1, I understand this goes on in pretty much all genres at the moment. We're talking about trance though. I'd be equally critical of rubbish machine gun techno and mainstream hip-hop if you were trying to defend that too. |

The point is that you have to have some variation in your tunes while at the same time maintaining a certain sound or atmosphere. This is what separates the average DJs from the great ones. |
In my defense, I've played on Nature One, techno. So don't tell me I only think trance... I've mixed Tech-house, D&B, House, Progressive, Detroit, nearly anything with a good vibe... Only in this sort of 1 hour mixes it's nearly empossible to go from one genre to another and back... in my mixes I try to create a climax at the end, with a 2 hour set you can throw in some tech-tunes, or some housy tunes, but on a one hour set you've only got 12-13 tracks to tell your story!
On the other hand, if you think trance has got mellow, what about techno ?! check bp, and all techno is more minimal to me... |

I see, I read: "so this is", referring to me :) but it wasn't :p
However, about that label thing; I agree that people get obsessed by labels, I only think it's nice to connect artists & labels. If a new artist sign in on Anjuna, I automaticly go look for other tracks of him :)
Other way around, If a well know artist signs a track to a label I've never even heard of, it is my duty to go and check that label out :) The only problem I'm having lately is time, school and work are taking nearly all my time for music :sadgreen: |

yes in 1 hour it's difficult to create something very different, depending on the time slot i usually like to start with tech trance, slow a bit and raise at the end for bangers.
But that's what we have. |

Just had to reply to this forum,
Chillout guys. There's plenty of good new music out there.
I quit Trance a few weeks ago. Released some tracks, did a collab with Kandi etc. But it's clear to me that this so called 'trance' scene is lacking musical knowledge.
I used to think this forum was the core of the trance scene..
