Muffin, I was there and yes, the buns quivered when he dropped It's So Hard (Thanksgiving After Dinner Mix).
Oh, and by the way, it's Angel Moraes, you bitch. :) :) |

Came Close to Going to the Boat Party as well in Toronto for Canada Day. After this past Sunday...I decided to opt out, Calderone's Lost my interest in the last 6 months.
Sunday was the 4th time I've seen him since October 09 ~
Stereo Halloween....Was Incredible, since then...Boring, very repeative sound....
Sunday Gaya Fest; Wasn't impressed, VC Spent more time zoning into his laptop then actually paying attention to the Vibe or the settin of the crowd. Laptops part of it...I understand...I guess I just like to see the showman side a little more, I say this and I've been a VC fan since 2002. Perhaps I just need a break of his sound for now.
AudioFly was really Good, not my style of music so much...but they were attentive to what's going on and experimented with it, Into the crowd and really Receptive to the crowds setting and what works, to gauge how people are feeling.
Danny Howells; Hopefully he puts on a better shows this time.
Last time, October wasn't very good at all...Perhaps he'll show up with some sleep under his belt and ready to play a Decent set this time! |

Lawler's intro was spectacular but I thought there were a few too many "change the pace and create drama" moments, slowing the set too much for me, almost like an epic trance set :p
Beautiful techy latin beats, much of it sounding like that Ibiza mix many of us denounced but man, you have to hear it in a big room, not on your pc's. Lawler's set was diverse, bit of tribal, lots of tech, some old school new wave sounding funky stuff, some obsure tracks that perhaps ran too long, too flat but he would bring the dancefloor back at will, he truly played with the floor and showed his control behind the decks.
From a personal standpoint the set lacked the relentless intensity and darkness that I was looking for but artistically this set was stellar, if that makes any sense.
Nice chatting with you TOTAs. It was a different crowd indeed, the car wash boys mostly stayed home that night :p |
nice review. Exactly what I thought happened when my friends gave me mixed reviews of the night.
Funny how people are still talking about Lawler's set at Sundance. I guest it was what you call a legendary set. People's expectations are so high because of that set, I know mine are. I'm a big fan of the afterhour loopy tech house sound so I'm pretty sure I would have enjoyed his set at stereo |

Lawler's set at Sundance was very good, but his true legendary performance in Montreal was the Lights Out 1 tour at Aria, that's what made his name here, and still probably the most important set I have heard.
Looking at those videos and from my friend's reviews, exactly what I was expecting. Very solid flow as usual, but not into his style right now. Glad I skipped this one. |

thanks Passskal. It was the flow I had the odd issue with, as well as some of his track selections - in particular how some of the tracks were used
But we got to taste a bit of everything... though I prefer the shrimp over the fake lobster bit :p
fack, I miss the twisted Lawler. Everything goes in cycles however, we'll see...

A ridiculous set
Pete Heller - Simpler with jets of water spraying over the crowd
Radio Head - Street Spirit (Funkagenda Remix) while the sunset.
Those are 2 moments I doubt I' will ever forget. Easily one of the most epic sets/atmospheres in my 8 years of partying. |

Indeed it was. And DT as well.
Coincidentally, Ame's anthemic "Rej" track was dropped too at Sundance (forget if by DT or SL), and was spun last Friday by Tone Depth, at aprox 10AM I think, hardly anyone there, but immediately recognized the ultra-low bassline. Had not heard it in a while, so great to hear it on the ((())) system.
Depth also laid down Dubfire's Roadkill after Lawler. I think he was desperately trying to keep his dancefloor going. His warm-up was great, but post-Lawler was very disjointed and lacking in flow.
As for Lawler, I found his set quite linear, with the intermittent crazy buildups. To me, he played darker, harder and more twisted at the Temple in 2005. But, music changes, and I totally appreciated this latest voyage. One complaint - too short of a set!
Kotsy - thx for sharing the vids - I know I'll be watching them several times over :) |

Also the first time I heard the Sexy Back Dub remix... that was awesome. |

he played it twice if I remember correctly. For some reason it fit perfectly in his set. Probably has something to do with the massive amount of sexyness on the dancefloor that day. |
