politically, keith olberman isn't the far left; it's just the country has moved so far to the right that he appears that way. the politics of most "far left" democrats today are virtually indistinguishable from richard nixon's.
the real 'far left' is minuscule and sits around doing puppet street theater and stroking their chins in college-town coffee shops. the real 'far right' turns up by the thousands at tea party rallies and sarah palin book signings. |

This is the latest false notion being repeated ad nauseum: "they aren't far left, they just appear that way because the country has tacked so far right". Olbermann is VERY far left politically. The man with the most liberal voting record in the Senate would not have been elected president if the country was rabidly to the right. but the pendulum is obviously swinging back that way as hoards of people run scared from liberal policies being shoved down their throats. |

I don't know if the video or this thread is more likely to induce an aneurysm.
Considering the fact that some of the posters are considered 'informed,' though, makes me lean toward the latter. |

Whenever a political thread pops up you let everyone know your standards of discourse are too darn high to bother posting an actual response to it. But it also seems they are low enough that you rarely avoid entering the thread to bag on the intelligence of everyone involved, eh? |

I usually start to type up a long, genuine response, then realize it's ill-advised, but can't help voicing at least some sort of displeasure. :p
Singling the actual offenders out would be part of a genuine response, so I'd rather make a broad, sweeping judgment. The people whose posts I can tolerate reading on these matters already know it.
