let's start by making the playoffs.

That's ok because every year, management only hopes for 2 home games during the playoffs which brings in $4M in revenues with very little costs. Any additional game is just gravy.
Zyklon_Jay
anyone else hyped up to see the rubber match tonight?

you can cut the tension with a knife...with a knife.

I am.

But only because they are two of the best teams in the East and both teams are on a hot streak.

Don’t want this to turn into a bloodbath… we won’t be able to compete. But I certainly hope for a fast + physical all around solid playoff style game.
Zyklon_Jay
it won't be a bloodbath. Julien is smart, he will tell his guys to let us try and start the rough stuff so we will be penalized. I saw a statistic yesterday on Le Match (lol i know so bad but nothing else was on.) . Boston has more penalty minutes than us, but we have way more minor penalties meaning Boston has to kill less penalties. Fighting majors don't hurt anyone. If the Habs stay disciplined and play like the last few games a win is something in our grasp. We still own this team.

Bruins and Pens tailored their teams to take on rugged teams like Philly and they really pushed Monteal around. Lets hope the powerplay clicks and Montreal gets up early. I don't think Boston is all that great offensively compared to other elite teams but man, that team is shaping up to be very hard nosed.
Zyklon_Jay
I still think we can take Boston in 7 games. Philly? not a chance. The Pens are still scary even injured like they are, but since Washington picked up some gritty spare parts, they are playing well and scare me way more. I think the Caps will fly in under the radar and end up playing Philly in the conference finals. Their season has this weird vibe to it almost similar to the Pens team that had a horrible beginning to the year only to end up beating Detwat for la coupe. If anyone takes out Philly it will be Washington imo.
Spin Laden
yeah Ovie has been coasting a bit but is heating up now too. Maybe the Habs best bet is if Boston, Philly, Wash play each other in the first round so a few of them get eliminated
Spin Laden
not gonna happen :p

they will be the top seeds
Zyklon_Jay
i hear you, the only parade i'm planning on attending this year is the pride one:p

Spin Laden
that's one way to get Brian to post in this thread, lol.

1 Philadelphia 65 40 19 6 208 174 86
2 Boston 65 38 19 8 199 152 84
3 Washington 67 37 20 10 178 167 84
4 Pittsburgh 67 38 21 8 193 166 84
5 Tampa Bay 66 37 21 8 196 200 82
6 Montreal 66 36 23 7 176 167 79
7 NY Rangers 68 35 29 4 193 164 74
8 Buffalo 65 32 25 8 189 187 72

points in the last column

Montreal could take out the Pens, especially if Crosby takes an 'inadvertent' elbow to the head :p

They may take out Tampa too. I think they need to finish 5th to get a favourable matchup, no lower than that ot they will have to pull out miracles again.
Zyklon_Jay
Tampa is probably gone in the first round. Great offense aside, they are weak on d and in net. Things get way tighter in the post season, so Stamkos and St Louis will not have the room they have now. Tampa is not the type of team i would consider good for close games. They also have the benefit of being in one of the tiest divisions in hockey.

They have 4 goals more scored against them than for them. That ain't gonna work well for them. It doesn't matter if you score 5 when the other team scores 6. It is the ultimate first round match up for us i think, and we take that series in 5. We don't have stars like Tampa, but we have a much more rounded team that fares well in one goal games and can play team defense. Tampa is a one trick pony.

Either way, it feels weird not wondering if we will make the playoffs or not at this point of the season.:p

I would even rather play Tampa over the Rangers or the Sabres.
