Some places here do fortnightly rent, but except for one, every rental place I've ever lived in has been weekly. I guess our landlords here don't trust someone with a whole months worth of rent :p |

Don’t try and rent in Australia then. real estates will make you sign direct debit authorities for payment of rent or there’s no house for you!
My tenants just pay via EFT deposits. |

different cultures different practices!
in America I paid rent by check, in France I pay cash or check, in Switzerland it's by bank transfer(actually loads of things get paid by bank transfer in Switzerland including speeding tickets, a magazine subscription, car repairs(bill mailed to you after you pick up your repaired vehicule) etc)... |

I've got one tenant who I make an exception for who pays theirs on the month, but everyone else is fortnightly and its all done with electronic banking. Don't actually remember the last time aside from a tax return, where I've even seen a check being used. |

| Monthly is the standard here although some allow weekly or fortnightly. I find that awkward because monthly just balances it all out but with months with 5 weeks in you're paying more than those with 4 weeks and it's enough to confuse people because there's a lot of thickness in this country. |
