agreed, monthly is clumsy. i suck at using a calendar, so its either weekly or fortnightly or go find somewhere else to live you stupid chav.

:stongue: :stongue: I guess we'll find out which way is best when our countries meet again next month onwards. I'm still tempted to change my dads booking into my name, but I don't fancy Sydney

Well you're ok, Tas gets maybe 1 odi and that's it. The 5 tests are always in the same order. Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Melb, Sydney.

Lily, It looks all nice but I have other bits of the country I'd rather visit first.

At my old place I made out cheques for the year, and my landlord would just deposit them at the beginning of each month. Pretty hassle free. My landlords were amazing though.

What if you needed to move before the year was up?

Pay in cash, first of the month, every month. No worries.

this is how i used to do it too.

pro tip: stop eating fast food all of the time and always have at least enough money to live a month or 2 without a paycheck in your savings/checking account. Problem solved.

I don't know how people can live without having a minimum amount in their bank accounts in case of emergency.

If there is a date on the check, and someone cashes it before said date, they are in the wrong and you should not be subject to the overdraft fee...at least it works that way in canada. If they don't cash your check right away, there shouldn't be a problem unless you are fiscally irresponsible and can't hold on to money for more than 5 minutes.

You're hilarious! No, I use the automatic bill-pay function with my Bank of America account where they have to deliver it by a certain date. the DATE ON THE CHECK was the first of the month. He received it in his mailbox before that date and cashed it.

that's so weird, i use automatic bill pay w/ BofA and the minute the check is cut by BofA and mailed the money is already gone out of my account regardless of when the creditor cashes it or not.

B of A are cvnts and it serves you right (all of you) for banking with them.

American banks offer the worst services at the highest charges, and B of A is right down at the bottom of that pile. Move to a global bank and you'll realise how utterly e they are.

I get the rent request statement from my landlords for my business about a week before the end of each month.

If I'm even a day late I could get a default notice meaning my lease would be in breach. So the first few times I pay rent I send it nice and early but the moment they get it, it gets cashed, in some cases a week early.

So now I have to play this game of chicken, leaving it to the very last possible moment and factoring mail delivery times and whether it's a weekend or a holiday so it gets to them as close to last of of the month. Pisses me right off.

Banks no longer look at dates on checks when they cash them - they only observe the date when a problem is reported.

And you want to know some scary ? If you cancel a check in the US, it's actually only put on hold for 6 months. Even if the bank cashes a check that is three years old, they'll only reverse it after the fact but they can't do it with instant cashing or if the money goes to a different bank meaning you're ed either way.

The only safe and permanent way to cancel a check is to actually close the account the check was written from.

How do you get cash to a landlord that doesn't live near you? Im not going to drive out to the 'burbs every month. Plus, my new landlord lives between DC and the UK. Not sure how that would work either.

What is so wrong with checks, people?!
