But, do you agree? Is it not a little weird to go to a hospital to seek treatment that falls outside the ‘western medicine’ umbrella?
If I was a doctor and someone came in asking for the best homeopathic regime to grow back their amputated leg, I’d drug them and send them to stu’s rape dungeon. |

LOL
I think that's quite an extreme example. I don't think it's weird at all. People may not know where exactly to go to get treatment that meets their needs - a hospital wouldn't be a bad place to start. :p |

But can't you refuse to do something idiotic? Or allow them to do so under your supervision?

You don't know what you're talking about, believe me. |

Here Lira, read this if it interests you. It's the practice guideline for complementary therapies here in Ontario.

And this is the best practice guideline for client centered care:

Thanks for the material, Jenny :)
Already read the first, but I now understand why my position is not really "orthodox" :p |

I've got a hippy mum, remember? I know first-hand that alternative medicine is "alternative" because it isn't medicine :p |

Honestly, if "alternative medicine" makes people happy, and they get some benefit from the placebo, why not just leave them alone?
My entire family is super religious and I have given up trying to convince them to be logical. Why? Because I have realized that despite their ignorance, they are happy and content with their lives because of what they believe. Their beliefs give them purpose. Why should I attempt to take that away from them if that is what they want? Sure, I think it's completely ridiculous, but arguably, they are happier than I am since I don't believe I am going to some wonderful place after I die, or that some magical and all powerful being is watching over me and taking care of me, etc. etc.
Just leave them be. |

Oh it is quite bad, to the point my grandmother registered me at school under my second and third middle names rather than have me traumatised by by people going :wtf: all the time and never taking me seriously.
As a 5 year old it was pretty rough being told your name sucks. :( |
