I don't see how being a DJ has anything to do with having a harder time gaining access to a country through its border.

Really? You don't? It does.

Well if you're traveling for a gig, you're basically crossing a border with a whole bunch of gear, a few hundred dollars worth of music, maybe a work visa maybe not, and are often instantly associated with drugs because of the nature of the scene. You're usually in a rush, as well. Naturally you're going to be a bigger target than most.

Not speaking from experience as a DJ here, because I've never traveled south of the border for a gig, but more than once I've been placed in "temporary custody" before by US border patrol and had my car, bags, computer, BlackBerry searched all because they *thought* I was moving weed. I have no criminal record, don't do drugs, and this happens nearly every time I cross. I have to leave hours in advance just to make sure I get there on time.

Be thankful crossing the border is as normal as a trip to the corner store for you. It's not that easy for the rest of us.

for a dj it has NOTHING to do with drugs. every dj that travels for work will worry about the border situation if the promoter does not supply them with a work visa. a person that does not reside in a particular country is not legally allowed to work without a work visa.

Why the is it so god dammed hard for people to understand this????
Brennen
Could have been a number of things
1. work visa
2. weather

Didnt western NY get hit with a ton of snow over the past week?
srussell0018
Yeah but Saturday and Sunday were pretty mild and most of it melted. That's in Rochester at least, but Buffalo is only an hour west of here.

An hour could mean the difference between 5cm and 110cm. London is only about 1.5 hours from Mississauga and they got hit with 100+cm while Mississauga got around 5cm if that.
srussell0018
True, but the kind of lake effect snow that Buffalo gets typically comes west to east and then hits Rochester.
