| Can someone list all the trance acts on Friday and Saturday? I am used to the unremarkable-tiesto-"highlighted" day on Friday, but I'm certainly not used to Saturday being this weak. I want to pretend to have some sort of plan. |

Ok, no one has posted yet so i'll go first; i'm finally done with Ultra. You all have been bitching about the kids for years and i've always said nah, its not that bad, they don't go to the acts I go to see........... and yesterday it didn't matter. As soon as they opened they were EVERYWHERE. I really wanted to see Holy Ghost, an indie rock band from NY. I made it to the stage and there were stupid kids everywhere just jumping around like idiots, swinging their little toys, wearing their terriblebackpacks, on and on and on. And that was for someone they had no idea who they were and weren't even listening to the music. It did not set the tone very well for me. I had to slam 2 Heinekins and take my xanax to get through it.
The rest of the night went pretty much the same. Erasure was amazing and scared off 90% of the main stage crowd. They couldn't handle a 50-something gay dude dancing around singing 80s tunes. It was so awesomeone seeing thousands of kids fleeing the main stage. Duran Duran was only ok for me. I've seen them twice and love them but something just seemed off. Of course most of the kids up frontwere already there waiting for Tiesto, so they all stood around bored and talking. Then Pendulum came on and the Bros up front were terrible for them. I like Pendulum and in 09 they were awesome but they really bored me last night. Oh well. Then it was time to GTF out of there becuase Tiesto was coming on. He wasted no time prepping and we didn't make it out before he started. Getting out of there was one of the hardest things I've ever done at a show. Seriously. Pushing through 10,000 (20,000?) people, all pushing back at us even though we were leaving. 6 different groups of people asked why we were leaving, in amazement. One guy wouldn't let us pass and another had to step in and tell him.
Anyways... tonight getting in/out of Underworld with Armin before them and Deadmau5 behind them is going to be a show. Not even trying to get close.
I've never seen as many stupid kids, stupid bros, stupid old people wearing candy gear and on and on and on. Its WAY worse this year than ever before. Finally, I can be done with this thing.

| and I have to get going but the place is SO much smaller. Everything is on top of each other, there is one spot where you can hear 4 different stages. And of course idiots were there dancing. Thank god i'm staying at the live stage all day today. The entrance and bathrooms might be the worst setup I could imagine. |

For me, it wasnt so bad. Saw Benny Benassi, Röyksopp, Joachim Garraud (awesome!) and then went to see Tiesto (very boring set.. Dont know why i keep giving him more and more chances time after time) bathrooms were a Big ing cluster, i'd like to know who was that idiot who came up with the idea to have one entrance with no separate entrance for ppl going in and ppl coming out. Getting out after tiesto was easier than i thought, took us 5 minutes. Sound was awful, it got mashed everywhere. Not good. They really shouldve kept it simple and build less stages, especially now with that construction going on. All in all.. Pretty good experience for a first day.
I cant wait for Underworld today. Im going in front. Dont give a about kids today. |
