For me, it wasnt so bad. Saw Benny Benassi, Röyksopp, Joachim Garraud (awesome!) and then went to see Tiesto (very boring set.. Dont know why i keep giving him more and more chances time after time) bathrooms were a Big ing cluster, i'd like to know who was that idiot who came up with the idea to have one entrance with no separate entrance for ppl going in and ppl coming out. Getting out after tiesto was easier than i thought, took us 5 minutes. Sound was awful, it got mashed everywhere. Not good. They really shouldve kept it simple and build less stages, especially now with that construction going on. All in all.. Pretty good experience for a first day.

I cant wait for Underworld today. Im going in front. Dont give a about kids today.

agree all around, except for the not bad part. Today was MUCH better. How was Royksopp, I heard they were awesome. I avoided those bathrooms today, found a few off to the side of the live stage

yeah so experience today was about 100 times better. Got there for Bag Raiders who were freaking awesome live. Checked out some DnB with Netsky, watched the few minutes I could take of Skrillex, hooked up some Simian Mobile Disco live which is always awesome, then Boys Noize was awesome and the crowd was insane. It went all the way back to the water. I was in the front against the railing. Cut Copy was good, but not as good as 09. Ran to Underworld which was amazing once again, then back for Empire of the Sun which was ING awesome. Holy .

Not so excited for Sunday, was even thinking about selling our tickets...

Röyksopp was awesome, i really enjoyed their set. Yesterday was 100 better than friday (even the bathrooms wasnt so bad, i guess people realized theres 150 booths behind those first ten) and I think today is going to be een better with the kids staying out "cuz dedmaufaiv iz not gon be there". Yay! Underworld was... Awesome. I'm pretty speechless. Prob the best gig I've seen in my life. Saw Boys Noize (awesome!), Skrillex, Fedde and Moby as well. After Underworld we stayed at the same spot to see Deadmau5, and that spot was in front of the mixing booth. Big ing mistake. These ing wanna be guidos came in pushing relentlessy and hit my friend in the back of his head because they couldn't get through. We were there with a group of 15 so when they saw all of us starting to get involved, they disappeared pretty quickly. We stayed 30 minutes in that spot, then head back behind because it wasn't enjoyable at all. I mean, I like Deadmau5, it's just his fans that I can't stand. That's why I dont go to see him live. Yesterday was a good reminder about that.

Today is going to be good, planning to see Fake Blood, Aoki, Beardyman(!), mstrkrft, erick morillo and chemical brothers!

Hey all, since I was not able to make it this year, :(
I would like to know everyone's favorite sets from Ultra. Please post who was hot or who was not, or who was there favorite of the weekend. Thanks!!!!
Atmos
I thought both Sander van Doorn and Ferry Corsten had the best sets. But then again, I only really attended Sunday.

I went to Ultra on Saturday and Sunday.
Day 1 Saturday got there around 3pm. by about 345 had to "save a girls life". She was so wrecked on drugs her eyes were rolling into the back of her head. I got a security guard and he offered her water but it wasnt going to cut it, I insisted that he get the paramedics. They ended up having to take her to the hospital. She couldnt have been more than 15 and was all by herself:(. No one stopped to help her, all they would do is film her. The bathrooms were a disaster, whom ever planned that should be fired. Afrojack killed it. Fedde killed it. Moby killed it. Boyz noise killed it. Deadmau5 was so so, I didnt feel the energy that I had expected. I left before closing so that I didnt have to leave with the masses but it still took us over 20 min to get a cab.
Day 2 Sunday. I headed down at around 430 and stood in line for 40 minutes waiting to get in. A girl in front of me got busted for drugs and taken into custody. I found that the music on Sunday was no where near as good as Saturday. The tent that Skrillex was in was overflowing and you couldnt hear it without hearing the other stages. Erick Morillo ended his set 5 min early and to make matters worse we had to wait another 20min for David Guetta to finally grace us with his presence. Guetta likes to hear himself talk... a lot. He played the same song about 5x and then ended his set 20 minutes early. Was not very impressed. I stayed for the intro of The Chemical Brothers but was not my taste...To whom ever took a #2 in the middle of the floor of the porta potty...not cool.

Other parties I attended.
Above and Beyond at Ice Palace. I went to see Gabriel and Dresden who spun a wicked set. I am sad that they didnt play till there was you but other than that no complaints. I met Gabriel and Dresden(separately) outside after their set and took a few pictures. Dresden was smashed. Above and Beyond is not really my taste either so I left shortly after they started.
Pete Tongs pool party at the surfcomber. The pool party was wicked. It was my first pool party.I found myself a nice spot on the grass no where near the pool. Kaskade was a surprise dj, I enjoyed his set.
Sunday School-First 12 hrs. I got there around midnight and it was deadsville, the music that was playing at the time was garbage. It didnt start to pick up until 3ish. I spent 80% of my time outside chilling on the couches. When I did finally go inside to hear Richie Hawtin it was rammed. The bass was way too loud and hurt my ears. I dont understand how people can stand beside the speakers. I left at around 5.
I was going to see Fedde Le Grande at Mansion but after 9hrs at Ultra I had to call it a night. I ended up selling my tickets at the door for $50

Got into miami Wednesday and checked out the AVA show... Got the bottle package and they had absolutely no clue wtf they were doing. It was a disaster and took over an hour to get settled, once things got rolling it was ok but that party was not soo hot. Upstairs it sounded great but downstairs there was just something lacking.

Thursday did the Luciano/Carl Craig pool party at the Shelborne. This was my first pool party and I totally enjoyed myself. We got there around 3 and chilled by the pool, swam a bit and just max relaxed. I was the only one who brought a float in and ended up selling it to some meathead for $40! It was nice to leave the party, hang out on the actual beach, hit the hotel and then come back for the last 2 hours of the show. Great day!!!! Went to Louis for Calvin Harris at night (this was my girlfriends choice) and had a pretty good time but also cost a ton.

Friday was Ultra. Loco Dice smashed it... ended up being one of my favorite sets of the weekend. Carl cox was good but nothing spectacular. Went to Sunday School and that was def. the best party of the weekend for me. Richie, Magda and Corola all killed it... Got there at 3 and left about 9:30.

Saturday Ultra Boys Noize rocked as I knew he would, checked out some of Armin on the mainstage but the show of the weekend was Empire of the Sun. The show was mindblowing with great music, visuals and live actors. Def. one of the top live acts I've ever seen, amazing! Saturday night checked out Paul Ritch and a b2b set with camea and alexi delano. Pretty good stuff there but needed some sleep at that point....

Sunday ASOT 500 was pretty epic... Caught both Ferry and Armins set and both blew it up. I was stoked for Crystal Castles but they just didn't do it for me. Guetta was annoying, Sander certainly impressed me and the chemical brothers were just awesome! The visuals for the chemical bros were on point.

Overall I liked the changes they made for the festival this year. I thought it was a good layout except for the bathroom situation which was just horrible. The main stage was much more accessible this year and there was certainly more space in all the spots except for the tower of ultra stage. All the super ed up kids did kinda piss me off a bit too. More than once there would be some dude with his shirt off just flailing himself and slinging sweat on everyone... not cool! Def. hitting up more pool parties and doing the full sunday school next year.

I already posted about day 1, so here goes the rest.

Day 2 of Ultra for me was great from start to finish. Bag Raiders were a great live act. Caught Netsky and even though he looked 16 he threw down a great dumn n bass set. High Contrast was up in the booth with him. Skrillex was just ridiculous. Simian Mobile Disco live is always awesome, and we stayed right up front for Boys Noize (omg the crowd!) and then Cut Copy. Ran over to Underworld, then ran back for Empire of the Sun and holy crap, blown away. Their album does NOT hit that hard and is not that electronic. Damn they knew what they were doing. Its expected since the main guy is also in Pnau, a more electronic band from Australia but damn. Awesome, awesome show. We left at this point and tons of people asked why we weren't staying for Deadmau5.

Day 3 was not so good. Got there early for Drop the Lime and AC Slater. Hybrid played with an orchestra which was bad ass, except they haven't put out a decent track in years. Stuck around for Fake Blood and he really let me down. We were pretty beat here and ended up leaving. The 4+ hour drive sounded a lot better at 6 then it would at midnight.

I thought the layout of the festival was terrible. I'd like to know how many kids fell going up and down those stairs, or how many fell climbing down the hill. The tents were way too close and there was one spot where you could hear 4 different stages at the same time.

I always liked the main stage to be in the grass so I wasn't enjoying the cement. Luckily I was hardly there. The sound on the main stage was much lower and worse than I expected. The only stage that sounded really good to me was the Live Stage. Luckily this where I spent most of my time.

The entrance was laughably terrible. On Friday they had lines of people going through one tiny walkway in order to get to the 8 entrances. The only problem was they were right by the street so there was nowhere for the lines to go. The searching was the same as always, most people not caring and the lady I got caring way too much. Then we get there Saturday and they were splitting up the girls and boys. This led to all the guys waiting at the top of the stairs for the girls to get in and find them, or vice versa. This led to me arguing with a security guard because he kept trying to get us to push back. I told him I wasn't leaving my girl. Phones weren't working so well and I wasn't going to just wander inside and hope she finds me. As it got busier more and more people stood at the top of the steps. I can only imagine the situation worsened. What a show. Each day there was something different about security, or where you could enter the line, or where you could cross the street, and each day it was WORSE than the day before.
I'm not sure if it was the same production company but it sure seemed like it was their first Ultra.

Reasons why I stopped going to Ultra!! Total BS and $$...

Good stuff everyone, keep them coming!!!!

Here are my UMF highlights (taken from my week review from the Toronto forum).

Ultra Day 1: I wasn't too excited about Friday's lineup. Ended up seeing Loco Dice, who killed it. We watched some Carl Cox, but found that he was playing more "housey" rather than techno (at the time). Wasn't feeling him as much. We ended up at Tiesto, which I wan't a big fan of, but my friends liked it.

Ultra Day 2: THIS was amazing. Boys Noize was amazing, Carl Cox was absolutely incredible to watch control the overflowing tent (until everyone cleared out for DeadMau5). Claude Von Stroke was great. My favourite Ultra day.

Ultra Day 3: ASOT500: Not my thing... even my trance loving friends didn't really like it too much. It was almost depressing to see the lack of energy in the same place Carl Cox rocked the night before. Ferry Corsten dropped some Dubstep at one point. The sound for him was really quiet for some reason. Armin had about 1 Jesus pose every 3 minutes. More heart shapes formed by the crowd and Djs in the ASOT tent than I can count... MSTRKRFT was MSTRKRT. Fun. Erik Morrilo was meh, had a lot of special guests, P Diddy, Aretha Franklin... Chemical Brothers was really cool, amazing visuals, sometimes creepy (the clown faced children chanting :nervous.

Other notes: my ER20 earplugs were a God send. I don't know how people can party all week without them.

Ultra General Notes:
Ultra bathroom situation was terrible! 2 long tubes of portopotties, with only one end open. Huge glut of people trying to enter and exit at the same time. Whoever designed this should be fired.

The festival was a lot smaller this year, and the spacing between the tents was a lot smaller. This means a lot of sound was bleeding from other tents.

The huge Carl Cox tent was really nice and big; however the sound was weaker than the last couple years. Here, they had large front stacks, and smaller overhead speakers near the back. Last year, they had stacks at the front, middle, and back, so you were surrounded in music.
