Im only going to say this once & I expect you (whoever you are posting this year) that you ONLY POST UMF Event INFO IN HERE. I do not need or want to see the same info that belongs in here posted in every single other thread in this WMC Forun or Florida Forum.

As far as everybody else is concerned.... If you are not going or do not like UMF for whatever personal reason I ask you to please stay & steer clear away from this thread. I dont need any dram in this thread.

Thanks

I can not afford the price of the GA ticket for Ultra right now, but may by the middle of February. Is that likely going to be too late to still buy? Do these events sell out quickly? I noticed the (much more expensive) VIP tickets are already gone from the site. I actually am only interested in going to Armin's 500th show there and probably would be OK w/ just being there on the 26th, but the site doesn't seem to be selling day passes, just the full 3-day event tickets.

Does anyone know how this usually works & if I am likely to be too late by that time? I hope to be at this milestone occasion but if they sell too soon, do any other alternatives exist? Perhaps someone willing to sell to me (I'd be willing to pay more)?

Thanks

ultra doesnt really sell out. although it might have last year in the last few days (cant quite remember right now). i know people were selling their tickets last year for quite some money at the gate and that might have been so successful because it sold out. although it didnt sell out until right up until the show.

you gotta understand they wanna cram as many people in there as possible. the more people, the more money so dont expect it to sell out weeks or even a month in advance.

if you're only interested in asot500, every year they do sell individual day tickets but usually not until the event is very close. but the issue with this is that at that the price of a single day ticket is about as much as the tickets for both days (im using last year as a reference when it was only a 2 day festival). so its better financially to buy tickets now, have a ticket for each day, and then sell the tickets for the day(s) you dont want to go.

you're more than likely okay in waiting, the only issue is that the price may jump a bit. on the website the $179.99 price says theres only a limited amount available. in previous years, they release the early bird tickets for a low price that usually sells out within a week or so and then the price goes up to the ga price but does not increase from there. this year early birds sold out before they were even officially announced (a bull ploy by our lovely ultra organizers). so i am expecting ticket prices to increase when phase 2 of the lineup gets announced. theres no word on when that will happen but my guess would be mid feb or so.

so basically unless you're trying to buy tickets the week of you should have no problem. even then you'll be able to find someone selling tickets but realize you're going to pay more. on ebay theres usually a fair amount of tickets on sale as well.

my advice, buy the 3 day tickets as soon as you can. hopefully you'll grab em before the price goes up again. then if you only want to go on sunday, sell the other 2 days. you may be able to make enough from selling your 2 days to pay for the third day so at the end of the day you'll have gotten in for free. also, when they ship out the tickets, you will receive a ticket for each day. all 3 days arent on one ticket for example. so its really easy to resell.

also from what im able to see, vip tickets are still available.

hope this answers your question.

Isn't Armin coming there on the 26th (Saturday), not Sunday?

I never went to one of these big events, hence my questions. Chances are if I can make it there, it would be Friday that I might not be able to attend, as my transport doesn't arrive in Miami till I think late afternoon. Saturday & Sunday should be fine though.

Whatever you have heard whether it's true or not, could you keep us updated? As most of us are from out of town and usually go with a group of friends, etc. So it'll not be a total waste of time and $$$$ to plan for a trip like this, especially with big group. TIA

I am planning to buy airplane tickets soon.

As far as I know, ASOT 500 has been moved to 3/27/11 Sunday. It was originally announced that it was going to take place on Saturday, but this has changed. It is now on Ultra's website and Armin mentioned it last week. He also said there will be more announcements this week (tomorrow).

theres always legal issues. for ultra 5 (2003) the city of miami tried to cancel ultra the week it was happening. and guess what, it still happened. miami has a lot to lose if they just cancel the event. so i dont think thatll be happening anytime soon.

and yep. asot500 is sunday. look at the flyer on ultramusicfestival.com . it was supposed to be saturday as per armins first announcement but ultra does what they do best and moved it to sunday.

I know most of you go for the DJs as opposed to me going for the bands, but looking at The Coachella lineup i'm hoping Ultra adds The Presets, Robyn, Kele (from Bloc Party who had to cancel 2 years ago), Delphic and who knows, maybe Death From Above can play. That would be insane. MSTRKRFT is already playing...

but as far as DJs - Sven Vath and Leftfield are on for Coachella, that would be fantastic if at Ultra. Duck Sauce would be intriguing, they were fun at Grand Central last year.

What other Djs might they add? I'm glad Funkagenda is on there, just saw him last week and he was great. I'm going to skip the dubstep altogether, had enough the last 2 years. None of the other Djs so far really intrigue me besides Mr. Oizo, and i'm not sure you could even call what he does DJing. Love Boys Noize but I've seen him about 15 times the last 3 years so if I miss its ok.

Oh, and for everyone that bitches about more and more bands being added - its the only thing keeping me coming back. Someone at Ultra is actually doing their job and recognizing that many of the people who went to this 5 and 10 years ago have grown up a bit and are more into seeing something different. Of course i'm going to run wild on South Beach the rest of the week but this is the first time in years i'm excited about Ultra. The last 3 i've said i'm never going again. Last year I ended up going because of Orbital. The year before Underworld. Now its like 15 different people, and thats just phase 1. At the same time, so many people are excited for hte big names (Tiesto, Deadmau5) and then everyone here is excited for ASOT 500. All of this means whoever puts the lineup together has done their homework and is earning their pay, when they probably could have mailed it in years ago and still made a lot of money.
