How about you explain to us exactly what we should be using and why. Also, don't forget to explain to us exactly what types of music we should be making and how we should be using our resources to improve our skills, whether it be in producing or performing. And don't forget to explain to us exactly why you are qualified to determine what other people should be using in their studio, or in their live setup for that matter. |

Do I really need to defend that? It has nothing to do with me. He's using ranking in DJ mags as his frame of reference for other people's successes and trying to make some sort of halfass connection to other people's studios. The implication there is completely ridiculous - ranking in DJs mags is hardly THE measure of a musician's success, particularly for people like M4B (i.e., the person that he was referring to) who don't even produce EDM. And, how any of that relates to another person's tools/resources of choice is completely irrelevant. Are you starting to get it yet? |

| i never used the word studio to describe my setup. It is a command centre. Also I thought the magazine was bj mag. In that case I don't have a ranking in dj mag. |

I think I've posted this same thought numerous times, but I just don't get the arguments that software elitists throw out there. The implication seems to be that most people using hardware don't have a clue that quality software exists. I don't think there are many producers or musicians on the planet who haven't considered the options or the many pros/cons of using software and, more importantly, in my observations there are hardly any hardware users who don't also use software to some extent.
IMO the software elitists are as bad, if not worse, than the hardware elitists - they're both seemingly on a mission to convince the world that their way is the right way, while the rest of us just use what we want and make do with the resources at our disposal, whether it's a minimal software setup, or a slutty as hell Deadmau5 wannabe studio. It's our money, it's our time, and it's our music and we should buy and use whatever the hell we want and use it in any way that we see fit. We all have different backgrounds, personalities, skill levels, income levels, expectations, priorities, musical styles, etc. and those all play a role in our buying decisions and workflow. Why is that so concept so hard for some people to grasp? |
