A military coup just as i predicted. Lets hope the second part of my prediction doesnt come true.
Interesting that it happened exactly to the day, 32 years ago when "pro democracy" crowds in Iran were celebrating their "victory" over a dictator in almost the same fashion. We all know what happened next.
I really hope this isnt the case here. |

I fund it interesting how it wasn't even Mubarak that made the announcement...
I think this was a forced thing.... |

I think Mubarak was gonna step down the night before when he gave his speech. But I think he was angry and disappointed that people found out about it and ran off telling all the news outlets of his decision. CNN became the first News outlet to find out about him stepping down. That's why when he came out and gave that speech, he starting citing all these things 'Section this and that, and charter this and that allow me to stay in power until this day'. I guess he was gonna surprise Egypt but his surprise was ruined. So then he decided not to step down that night, he had no choice but to come up with some sort of reasoning so that he can stay in power. Then the next day, i guess he either got pressured or said ' it' to himself and stepped down. that's just my opinion. |

No i think the army gave out the rumour he was going to step down. He came on and said no way. Then the army said "we are going to do this the easy way, or the hard way". He was smart to choose the easy way.
The army is now the king maker. The generals are the ones who will decide whether there are fair elections, faux elections, a theocracy or a military dictatorship. And when they make that decision, there is nothing anyone can do about it (short of a foreign invasion) as they are the ones who hold the machinery to enforce their decision. |

We don't know that he picked the easy way...
For all anybody knows, they could've detained him after his speech and said too bad, you're out hence why the VP made the announcement...
I'm told nobody knows where he is....
This is all on theory and rumors of course...
Also, looks like the Swiss banks have frozen his billions... |

LOL. Exactly what is US going to do if Egyptians legitimately vote
I don't want to be cynical, and I really do wish all the best for the Egyptian people, but the course of political events in Middle East and the continuing trend does not make me very hopeful for the future of Egypt |
Then stop talking. Your unjustified fearmongering is tasteless and annoying to say the least. It is their country, they can do as they choose. What is the point of democracy if you restrict the freedom to choose? Should we also insinuate that just because asians are the worst drivers that we shouldn't allow them to drive?
Get your headchecked, do some research, then comeback when you have a valid argument.
 |

Don't you know that Mubarak spent half of that protest looking at Canada's reaction?? |

So you preach about letting them do whatever they want but when somebody here, in a truly free country, tries to speak their opinion or ask questions on the topic, you tell them to shut up....
Maybe you don't realize that someone involved with the military, and having been previously deployed to that hole of a region, may have a personal interest in the situation over there...
You're dumb...
Did you figure out what it means yet?? |
