I do value the input you guys are saying what you want and don't want. I'm writing it all down. One of the reasons for coming on a great forum like this is to speak directly to the scenesters. That and the fact that I'm a Trance collector for years.
It's amazing seeing the next generation emerge. The flyer for the Axwell event outside of Toronto is well done.
Zyklon, I'm not going to comment on Live Nation as it doesn't concern me anymore. You sound like an employee of theirs or something. I'm not sure why you are so concerned with what they are doing...I'm not. It appears that my comments have enraged you - I didn't mean to do this.
>i would be interested to know where you got your info on most touring >acts losing money.
I never said the touring acts lost money, I meant the corporation posted a Net Loss...and I can't remember when I read it, it may have been within the past 3 years. I don't care what the 'big players' make. I'm not concerned about Rock acts from the 80's. I don't know anything about Rock, except that I like The Smiths.
I've logged your comments on the not wanting cheese. |
i'm not angry at all, i do not work for live nation, hell...i live in montreal and not toronto.
i deal with live nation quite often and work in a field related to what you are talking about...your comments are well intended, they just are off. |

I think this explains it right there. I was wondering why you kept bringing them up.
I've never worked for them. All I comment on is what I've witnessed in the market. They went through some big changes in recent years, slashed pay for acts etc..., due to economic slowdown etc. This is all to be expected though, as the bear raid of 2008 has affected most businesses. |

Bryce there's no hate on my end, that would be insane. I just think you don't know what you're talking about. Obviously I wish you the best in whatever you're trying to do. The music industry is crazy, fun and lucrative if you can work it. These last 10 years for me have been blood sweat & tears but it's the best job in the world & I wouldn't trade it in for anything! |
Just don't start complaining about how much money you have to pay out...

He pays for his own flights, staging, hotel stays etc etc etc?????
|
No one pays for that flights anymore. You work out all in deals with the agents and let them deal with that hassle.
Deadmau5 travels with a stage set up. It would be included in the fee along with transport, etc.. |

And I've never heard of the artist EVER paying for his transport
|
I've not paid for an artists flight in about 6 years.
The artists get paid a little more, but the transportation comes out of their fee. |

landed fees just bundle the cost. But you are still paying for the flight diff being that the booking agent or the artist gets to rack up the credit card points. :) |

| yep to jayz1 !!! that is honestly the greatest perk of all. all in fees are a godsend, imagine if promoters were left buying your flights? you'd be doing 2 transfers each way, on westjets & easyjets hahah |

lol, i wouldn't think deadmau5 is a super multimillionaire. i think he may have like Nelly Furtado money, or like Arcade Fire money. But he definitely does not have Jay-Z, P. Diddy or Madonna money.
First of all, he hasn't been around for that many years. Music is mostly what he does. He doesn't even seem to do too many endorsements and if he does, I am not well aware of them. His songs aren't even in any ads currently as far as I can tell. Also doesn't sell a clothing line and he doesn't even do interviews or anything like that.
And I think a lot of you just have skewed idea of how rich people are based on what they do. |

| I don't think he is filthy stinking rich but even if his take home after everything else is paid for is $3,000.00 on average that would still be impressive. I wish I had a job that paid me $1,000.00 an hour. |
