For $35 each ($50 at the door).

What you stand for is consumerism.

The avowed mandate of the consumer is to be a (often mindless) devourer of the means of production. Your role is to swallow culture, not create it. To be a spectator of your own life, not a participant. Consumerism is a culture of passivity, of under-achievement, of purchasing the hollow shell of the ideal lifestyle (As Seen on TV), not working towards achieving it. Where every flavour of creativity, ambition, originality and diversity is mashed into the omnipresent control of market uniformity. You are a slave to the dollar value.

Your personality is defined not as who you are or what you do or even what you can achieve, but by what you can acquire, what you can accumulate, what you can possess. You rely on things to define you. You rely on others to think for you. Ultimately, within our lifetimes, this will make the domain of free thought, free expression and free will literally impossible. Not through force, as totalitarian regimes have done in the past, but through applied docility, through conscious negligence -- the populace will do it willfully, discarding it as deftly as taking out the garbage and treating it as such. Consumerism is akin to avoiding someone murdering you by committing suicide.

You are the death sigil of everything that's good, pure, and honest with every underground scene.

And we don't need you.

If you are paying for it, it is not a scene. You cannot purchase culture.

Back to you ish!

You are a modern Day Steve Dahl ;) You hate the dance scene and what it stands for! You always did. Thanks to the stupidity of System-J it was a bit easier for me to expose you than I thought it would be. The advice you offer people here is absolutely laughable to any person with a hint of a brain. Worthless would be an understatement. You post here to try to cheat people out of their common sense but now in 2011 not too many people are drinking the purple Juice anymore. Like guys if you want to throw a classics night don't play any popular tracks people know! That is the key to the success of a good classics night! And no beegees on a disco night! Definately no beegees! Oh I always hated the ing beegees! They were so polpulars I don't likes it! Oh and if you guys are running record labels the best advice I could give you is to not play your labels tracks! Tell the artists on your label sorry guys when I spin out I do not like to play the labels tracks! Those tracks are for the underground crate-diggers of the record stores that don't exist anymore! Definitely don't play your friends tracks either! Who knows they might not return the favor! Mo powa to me Steve Dahl hi hi! You definitely don't want people to think you are a mindless consumer a devourer of production mashing culture into an ''omnipresent control of market uniformity'' do you? nah you want to be a cultivator of culture, a stochastic libarator and keep it real like Z-trip and spin rap music on the David Letterman show!

Can you find me a single recent setlist from any of these DJs where this is not the case?

I'm failing to see how your unflinching obduracy exposes much of anything if it's not your unflinching stupidity coupled with your unflinching insistence on being unfunny, unreadable, and unlikeable.

To be perfectly fair, Steve Dahl did disco music a favor.

Disco, once a vibrant, energetic movement championed by the black and gay underground, had been smoothed-out, polished, and distilled into flakey, feather-lite pap. It was poppified into something milquetoast and lame, perfect for grandmothers and 8-year olds.

It needed to die, so the underground could reclaim it. The best disco music came out after the crash.

It's not about selling tracks for a couple dollars. It's about selling a brand for a lot more. The tracks are merely the keepsake and currency. The brands control their currency like the US Fed controls the dollar, protecting against counterfeiting, etc. It's called brand equity.

If you don't understand this, you are the one living in the past.

Deadmau5. Definitely Deadmau5.

Although he does not front as a DJ but as solo chemical brothers/underworld type of studio act he did never the less catch some slack for what people in the dance world might consider as ''whoring your own tracks''' when he created an essential mix sequence consisting of nothing but his own productions! Like you this is my radio time! :p
You might be temted to think this was indeed the case however this incorrect.

See Deadmau5, a dj at heart, is a true cultivator of blip culture! A cultivator of the infinite beat. The unresolved song. His original productions melt into cohesive, undending streams of music where everything becomes the now!

This music was tailor made by him, for him. His music. His life in the fast lane. His radio time. His bottom line. Short takes, quick cuts. The TV remote-control clicker. High stimulation. Locked biorhythm. Heartbeat. Laser. Plasma screen. Toilet seat, Washing machine. Pizza Oven!

Joel Zimmerman is not a DJ, and he'd be the first to tell you that.

*cues music*

On the day I was born
the nurses all gathered 'round
And they gazed in wide wonder
at the joy they had found
The head nurse spoke up
and she said leave this one alone
She could tell right away
that I was bad to the bone

Bad to the bone
Bad to the bone
B-B-B-B-Bad to the bone
B-B-B-B-Bad
B-B-B-B-Bad
Bad to the bone

I broke a thousand hearts, before I met you
I'll break a thousand more baby, before I am through
I wanna be yours pretty baby, yours and yours alone
I'm here to tell ya honey, that I'm bad to the bone
Bad to the bone
B-B-B-Bad
B-B-B-Bad
B-B-B-Bad
Bad to the bone

I make a rich woman beg, I'll make a good woman steal
I'll make an old woman blush, and make a young woman squeal
I wanna be yours pretty baby, yours and yours alone
I'm here to tell ya honey, that I'm bad to the bone
B-B-B-B-Bad
B-B-B-B-Bad
B-B-B-B-Bad
Bad to the bone
