Well, you see, then those people would come together to appreciate that music in group gatherings. That is what we call a "scene".

You disgust me man. You really do. Is this how you support that scene by sitting on your computer and talking from the sidelines? You came here talking about how djs are promo-whores and spam their own tracks or their friends tracks... which djs are you talking about ish? Surely you didn't just throw a blanket statement thinking I am going to let you get away with it. Which ones? And why? I ask you... why? Because there is such good money selling EDM records mp3s to others on the internet? Do you really believe what you write? If these djs were really promowhores they wouldn't nickel and dime with dance music or try to sustain their labels through the hard times they would be spinning top40! A lot more money doing that. ;) Dance music in 2011 is truly a labour of love and as much as you like to tear it down by talking about how ''djs are only there to spam their labels tracks'' this is hardly the case.

And tell me... what have you done? I ask you... what have you done?
What have you done to break the monopoly that Clear channel has over what people hear?
What have you done to create alternatives to MTV?
What have you done for this scene you obviously hate and enjoy tearing down?

But that is ish always destructive rather than constructive.... always out to create confusion...

Not all djs are perfect but they're doing everything they can. As far as their grassroots promotion efforts I personally don't view them as a threat to me or my way of life. For me it's just some people trying to make a living. I even like to throw them a little business when I can.

Well, for starters, I don't get banned from internet message boards.

heh.

....I was a rave promoter for 10 years. Underground, illegal, clandestine, renegade and obstinate.

What does Clear Channel have to do with underground electronic music culture? Clear Channel is irrelevant....we never needed it before, we never needed it after, we don't need it now and never did. It's very easily ignorable -- who uses the radio for cultural sustenance? That's just silly.

Do you know what the difference is between the underground and the mainstream? ...the mainstream, in whatever form or presentation, is something that will always come to you. The Underground is the opposite: You must make a conscientious effort to go to it.

Get digging.

What does a youth-oriented reality television network have to do with underground electronic music culture? MTV is irrelevant. Besides, I'm from Canada. I don't even get MTV.

Obviously more than you, if you interpret "doing it for the scene" to mean getting on MTV and Clear Channel.

Your priorities are messed up.

She just spews the most incoherent bull. Just so incredibly upset that since the 90's dance music has gone in a different direction than she likes.

Oh booinghoo.

You still haven't answered my question. Third time I am going to put it in bold to make it easier for you...

You come here talking about how Djs are not in it for the music they are only there to promote their own or their friends tracks...

Really Ish? Really? Why? Because there is such good money selling EDM records mp3s to others on the internet?

If these djs were really promowhores they wouldn't nickel and dime with dance music or try to sustain their labels through the hard times they would be spinning top40! A lot more money doing that. ;) So as much as you like to spew this propaganda about big label bosses not in it for the music but out to spam their own labels tracks and sell them this is not the case. It is 2011. In case you haven't noticed record sales are far to insignificant for this to hold any water. Running dance labels these days truly is a labour of love...

Bahahahaha.

Yeah, Armin van Buuren really loves the music on Armada and loves the music he plays. He loves it so much!
TheOneILongFor
Ask him. Doesn't he own the copyright to the word trance by now?

Lews
I don't need to ask him. He's said in interviews he plays [and makes] what sells, not what he actually likes.

I don't follow Armin Van Buurens career to know but thank you for the 411 on that. Hey... maybe you are right. Either way I don't think Armin is typical of your average dance music producer/DJ/label owner to be used as a case study here. What is next? Dj Khaled is in it for the money too?
