There's an underlying anger building around the world with ordinary people getting screwed by economic forces beyond their control. They can't afford houses, get jobs and the violence eventually starts to emerge. There's even been riots in Vancouver and a smaller one in LA recently at the EDC premiere of all things. I think we're going to start to see more of them around the world. People are frustrated. Of course that doesn't excuse the looting and greedy behavior.

what is the connection between an EDC riot and not being able to afford homes and get jobs?

I landed in Manchester earlier, it seems rather quiet actually, but that's probably because it's raining and chavs don't like the rain....

Everyone who goes to EDC is an unemployed loser with no work ethic and a huge sense of entitlement.

this. Can't be bovvered to read this thread fully, so just skimmed it. Was just in London, namely Hackney/Dalston, a week ago, 24 hours before the riots, and this whole thing is just ing unbelievable.

If you listen to why these little hoodie scum bags they all have different reasons like "it's coz of da consevarvatives" or "it's to show da government day can't controwl us, init".

The best was "it's against da rich people cos day own businesses, like"

So that's why a nail salon and two charity shops were looted and burned in clapham.

And they do all this wearing £150 trainers and communicate via £300 smartphones, while wearing £500 stone island jackets and £250 Moschino jeans.

I heard a very interesting first hand account from a nieghbour of Mark Duggan, the apparent "reason" for the riots.

Apparently, the night of the "peaceful protest" the Duggan family had a BBQ, and invited some of Mark's "associates". Next thing you know, a large sound system is being setup in their garden and loads of little hoodies start turning up.

Then someone starts repeating "kill the police" on a mic to the soundsystem.

This neighbour tried to leave her house but by that point the street was blocked up with cars and gangs, so she boarded up the doors and stayed inside and later that night london started burning.

Allegedly, the police are considering arresting some family members of the Duggan family for inciting violence, but are scared to do so for the repercussions.

It's just a bunch of dumb little ****y hoodies, looking for an excuse to rob and burn .

enydo
BUT IS GLOBAL GATHERING STILL GOING DOWN??

Ha... I knew I'd agree with you on something one of these days. This is totally to your point (from a UK reporter):
quote:
We are told that youths roaming the streets are doing so because they are angry at unemployment, but a quick look at an apprenticeship website yields 2,228 vacancies in London.

Did anyone see this video of the 2 girls being interviewed by a BBC reporter on the street, explaining their rationale? Incredible:
