You're quite mistaken, sir. Where I live, I'd have trouble even finding a store that sells Foster's. No one (Australian) drinks it here at all, we just sell it to the English :p

Ours is brewed in Glasgow you pecker.

Actually, apparently the Aussie Fosters is different to the UK Fosters.

I know that, you misunderstood me. I'll re-phrase: The only people in Australia that drink Foster's are the English.

Finally, a sad and probably all-too-true anecdote that is also a very commonly growing problem here in the States:

I think the US set the standard for riots after the LA ones in 1992 that went for 6 days and killed 50 odd people if I remember way back when, a lot of the same root causes for them as well.
*Coloured minority abused by cops
*Large amount of poor as beans young people with no future
*Rioters turn on migrant owned businesses
*Eventually inertia just flows into looting for no reason

Yeah, but the LA Riots were managed by the fact that so many Asian shopkeepers were well-armed. :p

Bumping this thread now that the repercussions are becoming apparent. The UK justice system is not fvcking around.

I think these are some great examples:
• David Swarbrick, 25, was jailed for two years after he stole £25 worth of Oil of Olay.
• Father-of-four Anthony Winder, 38, looted and smashed a display cabinet to get an ornamental dog. He was also jailed for two years.

I hope the Oil of Olay and ornamental dog were worth it! Pillocks.

Either way, someone has to pay to feed and house all of those s, so no one wins.

Two guys in their late-teens were also sentenced to four years in jail, for attempting to organise riots on Facebook.

The sad fact I know for myself when it comes to heavily armed home defence in an insurrection/destabilised country, is that it really only goes so far. Eventually you will run out of ammo and if you've shot enough of them in the process they'll be very much angrier and eventually find their own guns.

In LA they had marines and army go in, which is what the English probably should have done sooner as a deterrent to anyone else mucking around.

Now combine this with the sense of entitlement that Yoof now have, and instead of working your way up from the bottom, they'll just sit on the dole, in a council flat, flexing weed to pay their mobile phone bills. They're too complacent to work a minimum wage job, and in fairness why should they? It's somewhat a poverty trap.

I know of people who sell skunk to their mates and mates of mates and earn more than I do. It is so dry around here that they can get away with giving pretty weak 8ths out and still have people coming back, spend a grand on weed and you can literally triple it in a couple of weeks, tax free, in cash.

These people are utter dick heads obviously but they are in their late teens/early 20's and have more disposable cash than just about anyone. And literally they don't do any work. Bag the up as required, drop it off. As you say, why the would they go work in a supermarket and lose 25% of a minimum wage job doing ty work 8 hours a day?

How long it will be before someone s them over or they get nicked is anyone's guess, perhaps even there is an outside chance it get's legalized and sold via pharmacies or off licences and these guys have no business model anymore.

Being a Brit in LA, a lot of people chatting to me about the Riots, likend the london riots to what happened in LA.

The difference is with LA though:

-there was (and still is, albeit somewhat calmed these days) a massive race divide, which the UK does not have (or at least to anywhere near the same degree)
- Cops were filmed beating the out of a black guy for a prolonged period, and obviously enjoyed it, regardless of the fact he was on crack or a drug dealer.
- poverty in certain areas was rock bottom, which no social infrastructure to support them (like in the UK).
- As you said, there had been a new generation of migrants who owned businesses while the "natives" saw a divide and decrease in wealth, at least in the poorer areas.

In the UK, there's not these problems, and it wasn't the poor attacking the rich, or one race lashing out at another. It was just opportunism and viral mob mentality.

@LP7 - I know what you mean, I had mates who made a small fortune every week and just wasted it on designer jeans and trainers, or souping up their cars. There's no incentive to get a proper job because if you don't work your housing benefit gets paid, you get dole and can still flex the green to live large.

A lot of girls I went to school with literally popped out babies to become a single mum just to get a council flat. We were having education orientation towards the end of school and one girl in my class said to me "I ain't going uni, that's more school and it costs money, so I'm going to have a kid and get a house".

I'm glad they're hammering down on the looters. It ed people's livelihoods and wrecked their own communities. The police were pussies though. The Army should have been called to regulate that early on.
