As a parent that kind of comment really disturbs me. Ouch! Wonder what his daughter will think when she grows up and reads that. |

To those who say it takes manual beat matching to be a DJ, I say this.
You can start a fire using two sticks rubbed together. But let me tell you, I'll use a lighter any day and beat you in starting fires 100% of the time. |
Terrible analogy.
Maybe artists (painters) should stop painting with brushes now too.
Funny you don't see this with techno dj's. Swedish house mafia, guys like that have uneducated fan bases or are new to the scene so they don't really care. If you've been in the scene for a long time and are still listening to Guetta or Deadmau5e, Angello etc.. there's a problem. |

A lot of techno guys use laptops - Brian Sanhaji, Xhin, Dubfire, Chris Liebing, Speedy J, Richie Hawtin etc... |

They're actually doing work. Not just flapping it... |

This just proves that the majority of dj's have no passion for the music... they are in it for money. sad but true.
there are very few samurai remaining. seek them! |

| I don't buy into the pyro excuse. Bands do it all the time, and they play live. |

it's obviously BS. as woody mentioned, he get's on the mic and starts talking before the pyro goes off, that eliminates the 'timing' he used an excuse. |

Being on beat is somewhat important, but an amazing set doesn't necessarily have to have perfect beat-matching.
It's all about track selection and the actual programming. If those two are stellar, people often don't even realize the trainwrecks. It's just like OMG all night.
Now if the programming isn't great, then people tend to notice issues more with the beatmatching.
I think we are indeed in an era where manually beat-matching is becoming less and less important. But I hope it doesn't make the DJ lazy. |

They are being compensated for making so little on music sales?
(I don't know how much producers make on music sales, but it sounds like it isn't a lot based on other TA comments.) |

Matching beats is critical in EDM and I don't think anyone is debating that. The question is whether it is okay to let a computer do this task for the DJ. |
