there's so many hypotheses as to why this can happen. i don't know for sure in this case but...payment issues comes to mind. if you haven't sold enough tickets, the event organizer can't pay the venue or deposits for artists, thus allowing metropolis to cancel?
i dunno anything for sure, but it's a possibility. |
Ok. wow I didnt know Metropolis was that big...
Also if it's not cancelled, and if they move to Circus for example, they need to respect the time slot, for all the people who are going to RV after! |

You may have answered your own question in your posts: Stereo venue is tried, tested and true and with two big bookings that weekend (Victor too), plus Halloween parties all over and ppl saving up for Nov/Dec at Stereo, plus maybe bit of burnout in every sense from crazy summer of bookings all over, this event may have been facing some serious hurdles to sell a respectable amount of tix at Metropolis with two djs, although very decent, don't have a huge footprint here yet.
Timing is everything, one of these days they will figure that out :p

yeah, that happened almost to the day a year ago, I was halfway to Montreal when that happened :p :whip: but that is small potatoes compared to anyone who had to book hotel, time off work, etc.
|
Guess what
I booked a hotel
I took 2 days off work
I have to drive 5 hours
And Already told someone I would give them a ride to montreal ........ |

ya, like maher pulling off one of the best bookings this city's seen in a while? that could be a hurdle :p
who the wants to spend 40$ for luciano and carl, and then another 40$ for ricardo? i'm sure people do it, but it's not everyone that can afford that. i know i wouldn't be able to...80$ on cover charge alone, damn. no drinks, no water, no drugs, nothing else is covered...it's an expensive night.
anywaysss, i really hope it's not cancelled and that it's simply moved to an appropriate venue. many will be disappointed otherwise... |

i'm not saying facebook is THE way to tell how packed your event will be, but it is a very good indicator. i've heard through the grapevine that this event sold less than 1000 pre-sale tickets...which is horrible! and i can't figure out why exactly...it's ing luciano and carl craig for sakes. you'd think they would pull. maybe it's because of tempting afterparties (ricardo), private halloween parties (organized by friends)?
i know for myself, personally...i decided not to go to carl vs. luciano because 1) i've seen them, 2) i hate metropolis and 3) i'd much rather save my energy for ing ricardo.

halloween weekend is also a tough weekend for events. TONS of competition. |

| The Luciano b2b Carl Craig is not cancelled for now, it will probably be move to Circus. We had to change the venue, people are too last minute in MTL for this event. Everybody's saying it's one of the best booking, but they don't buy tickets, our last 2 events at Metropolis were sold out (Steve Angelo and Skrillex) so it wasn't an easy decision to make. I'll know the 100% outcome at the end of the day. by the way, I'm not sure Circus will be open earlier than 1am...we will see how we figure it out. |

for sure, and it's also a fatigue thing. Who has the time, money and energy to do these gigs? Good thing my Van frend didn't fly in or I'd be forced to do every event in the 514 and 450 that wknd :p
Deadhouse sold out four shows there, these decent djs can't even sell out one. Awesome booking but not enough ppl seem to think so. |

i'm having a party at my place before ricardo cuz i'd rather save my $ and energy for stereo. |

Circus would be so amazing! Please take into consideration a lot of people who are planning to go after this event to Stereo for RV. In that case, to start directly with the B2B at Circus! :) |

i can understand how frustrated you are :( it really sucks...at the same time tho, you can't compare selling out Angello & Skrillex to selling enough tickets for Craig & Luciano...so many differences, especially in demographics each artist appeals to and brings out, but, i know you know this, so we won't go there.
honestly, i think it's about your competitors and what they are offering that same night, and where they are offering it. i'm sure there's many other contributing factors, but i still think competition is the major one playing a roll in low ticket sales...
good luck marie, i hope you guys pull this one off. |
