Occupy Movement (support or against?) (pg. 5)

Holy smokes people turn off the media and turn on your brain.

Do you actually think they're protesting for more wealth? It's the massive imbalance in power that those wealthy have over the rest that is being protested. People would not be running around saying "Hey I want more money without working for it". That's absolute BS and I haven't heard anything like that directly from a person in this movement, only from the media and random people against it.

Second deal is the jobs. If there's 100 people and 90 jobs, do you think those 10 people trying harder to land one actually has a shred of affect on the overall number of jobs available? If they're lucky then they just score one of the 90 and that leaves another person unemployed in their place. I don't think I've ever seen a job open where they receive a massive amount of applications and say "Wow look how many qualified people applied, we should hire two people for this position instead of one!".

There's definitely arguments against this movement but if you're just regurgitating the above 2 angles you really need to start thinking using rational terms.

i think its dumber then skiing at centennial park. Listen buddy you cant in protest when the very thing you're protesting against (greed, money, corruption) you promote by wearing and use to organize these protests. I say you stop blaming the drug dealer, start taking social responsibility and stop being the addict before you hit the streets. The only reason why there is government and corporate corruption is because you the people demand it. You like your iphones for 800 dollars right?, your laptoops for 500 bucks??? your cool clothes your apple amagig for an affordable price??? well then someones gotta take a beating for you to get it. Quit being such a consumer before you guys pick up signs...start being socially responsible. This is why I don't protest...I like my apple iphone and my blackberry and the precious metals my country had to rip off from another country to get me for cheap :) The power doesn't lie in the hands of those in power, it lies in your hands. Quit whinning to your master how is unfair and be your own.

For the manufacturing side of things and exploitation of other countries I'd agree with that. But it doesn't really address the messed up pulled by financial institutions. The decisions made by them really weren't connected to the general public but more so their own financial greed, yet the consequences really messed up a lot of things up for people with no influence in the decision making process.

Skiing at centennial park is absolutely dumb. I never could understand that crap. As if all the ski "hills" around here weren't small enough lets pay full prices to use something even less.

Not at all! It's not totally fair and awesome. Nothing is, nothing will ever be. What's fair and awesome to one person, group or demographic is completely selfish, unfair and horrible to another.

If you think everything is going to be fair, you've been brought up completely jaded in life.

From the days of the playground or playtime in preschool, you better have learned that this is just unfair and you're in control of your destiny, happiness and self satisfaction.

Do I want a private jet, fancy cars, mansion, house in Spain? YA I do! You do too. But we didn't get those opportunities or took advantage of what opportunities we had or made the moves and decision in life to be exposed to those opportunities.

Maybe i'm wrong and don't understand it, or I just don't give as much of a as I should. And maybe I cannot articulate it well enough on a internet forum/message board. But i'm not a dumb guy and have read enough on the internet about this, watched enough on it, listened to plenty on the topic and discussed it in depth with people. And I still don't agree with it and no one in this thread has managed to change that. A few have put a different light on the situation, made me look at it in another way, and enlightened me to different perceptions.

But i'm still #occupy

of course they are, if you think they don't want a bigger share of the "economical" pie, you're slightly clueless, my friend

Don't like the Mayor either.
Except for his love for the NFL.

Can't be bothered to get involved with any of this 'occupy' . Don't get it, don't care, don't have time. Doesn't affect me in the least, and just makes the news more annoying.

Again, key differences between the US and Canada.
Are the people at St James protesting the US financial system? Who knows, since they don't have any sort of unified, agreed upon, well communicated message.
