That last line reflects your misunderstanding of how basic business principle works.

exactly, so shouldn't someone with that kind of responsibility be paid accordingly. |
With that logic the US president should be paid 1 billion dollars a year. |

I know it may be hard to understand since most of you already have a job, but they don't just grow on ing trees or sold at Wal-Mart. |
Sure they do! But you/they/them don't want to work them.
Come to Windsor today, I'll get you a job at near minimum wage with free training, plenty of opportunity for growth, office and professional setting and a industry where you have the chance to gain a -ton of experience.
Or, two words... Oil Sands. They will in fly you there, pay for your food and lodging, you learn a trade and you can easily clear $100k in a year if you wanted to.
But yeah, you want a job in your field or what you studied, sure I understand that. But maybe you're not going to find that job only a few blocks from where you grew up or where all your friends are. Perhaps you should have chosen a different field or study where there are more opportunities in that field. Or maybe you should try to get more studying and experience in a field where there IS opportunity.
You think I like my job? Or I get paid well? My company is the in the business to MAKE money, the founders of my business worked hard for years and long days and in debt and hard times to eventually make money and live lavish lives. They don't deserve that? yeah I want to make money, but I made my decisions that currently I need to stay in Windsor, I enjoy it here, and this is the best job I have.
I'm also lazy and don't look for other opportunity, but I only have myself to blame.

That is about 12 times what I make a year. I don't think 1.5 million dollars is a lot to pay a CEO of a company that employs thousands of people across north america. |
K, bust out my simple math skills....ummm... can you hire me? :D |

The difference being that the US president does not create wealth; an effective CEO does. Besides, people don't seek the presidency for the salary of same... you would have people seeking that office if the pay was zero because the money comes afterwards; not the case with CEOs... few would be willing to take the risk of being the CEO of a corporation without high levels of compensation because anyone with the skills necessary is already making good coin doing something far more secure. |

| i had the unfortunate experience of having to take over my bosses job while he was away on vacay....for the same pay. I wanted to blow my brains out every night i came home. not even for 30 grand more would i want his job again. I could only imagine what the top dog feels like. |

| quote: | | Your argument falls flat when confronted with the reality that CEO compensation is not decided upon by CEOs; rather, by boards of directors.... directors of course being elected by a corporation's shareholders... those shareholders being people just like you and I. Ultimately, it is we the shareholders that control CEO compensation. |
and your argument falls flat when confronted with the reality that the board of directors is composed mainly of CEO's of other firms and vice versa... its a huge scam |

But the board of directors are elected by the shareholders. Blame the voters. |
