So since I did not get in to the Guvernment maybe some of you would like to share and tell us how everything went?
Well here is my little review.
Left my house around 8:30 drove to Mecha's house. Had drinks with Mecha and E-Master. Left his house around 11pm to pick up a few ppl on the way. All this time I did not have a ticket to the event. Why you may ask. Well let me tell you. A friend of mine bought me a ticket a month ago. I was happy that I did not have to worry about it! He calls me up on Friday night and tells me that he had bought too many tickets and decided to sell a few to a couple people. And guess what he sold my ticket. All of it ofcourse by mistake! YEAH ING RIGHT! :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: Will if you are reading this hope you feel bad about it, you bastard!
So we get to the Guvernment @ 11:30pm and we were looking for the parking for over 30 min, at last a good spot was found. Had a few more drinks before we went in.
Got to the lineup cut in cause we saw all the TA's in the lineup. We waited for a total of 20 min. The bouncer that checked my ID tells me that I can't get in through this line unless I have a ticket. I ask him: "Well aren't there any tickets on the door?" the answer was, "you have to go to the Guvernmet lineup to get tickets." WOW, ing great. Why the hell don't you have big ass signs that tell people that in the first place so there is no ing confusion. So all in all to make a long story short I get to the ticket purchase lineup and wait for over and hour and 20 min. And as I am 10 people away from the entrance the bouncer says: "sorry guys we are at full capacity, GO HOME!" WTF! :whip: :whip: :whip:
Why didn't I buy my ticket off a scalper you may ask? Well they were selling them for anywhere from $60-70, and well there is only one thing that I can say to that! " THAT!!!"
So all in all my summation of the night: total time of waiting in line 1hour and 40min and did not get in, wasted money on gas and booze for no reason and did not get into the club! IT's all good! SOUNDS LIKE THE BEST NIGHT EVER DON'T IT!
So I got into my trance-mobile and drove home, it would have been the worst night of my life it wasn't for E-master. He was a real pal and picked me up a couple vinyls:
Hybrid - Visible Noise/Know Your Enemy
Way Out West feat. Kirsty Hawkshaw - Stealth
Thanx E-Master you are the best!
that is the only thing that made my night.
well let's hear how your night went and let's hope it was better than mine!:whip: :whip: :whip:
P.S. Mecha, E-Master and Vitaly sorry guys! Hope you got home alright!:happy2: |

This party was IN' retarded !!! Way too packed and the narrow hallways did not help. I was stuck in the progressive room most of the night and it was good damn boring. Finally got into the jungle room to hear the final 30mins of Andy C ... all I can say was, HE was ING ON FIRE ... AMAZING tracks and dubplates. The room was going NUTS !!! Passed by the main room and heard AvB spinning PvD's For An Angel !!! Then went to the rest of the room and the roof top was beyond packed.
All in all I had a wicked time seeing old school friends I haven't seen for a while. Great VIBE all night but, it's too ing packed !!! Last time i hit the guv for a party that big !!!
High Light of the night... walked by the massive lineup and got in within 10 sec.
PLEASE BEAR if my spelling, grammer or anything doesn'tmake sense .. too tired right now |

ok .. i'm gonna say flat out that i ing rip this party to . Don't get me wrong it started off REAL good. Headed off with my girl and a friend and then met up with some other friends which then was able to get the rest of the TA crew into the line (you guys know who you are: Time2Burn, LKD, Infinity, etc..) anyhow.. after that it all went downhill..
when we got inside we noticed right away that it was overly packed, not nearly as bad, but this is where it gets worse. There was this huge ass pack of people trying to ram themselves into the Orange Room which to eventually get into the Guv mainroom. Anyhow, this line had absolutely no organization WHATSOEVER. People were shoving and trying to plow their way in and the stupid ass bouncer was only lettin in like 1 or 2 people at a time. Why ? I have no ing clue, if someone could please tell me do. Anyways, so yea there we all are trying to get inside and I am being squeezed like a ing pancake eventually luckily enough pop in through. Unfortunately for my 5"4 girlfriend it wasn't that easy. She was almost crushed to death and this I swear on my life almost suffocated and DIED. When she finally got through she was short on breath and I could tell was labouring. We walked further into the club without notice until finally while heading to Skybar inside the Drink she started to hyperventilate (sp?) REALLY heavily and was all red and crying. Apparently while trying to get into the Orange Room she was almost crushed to death by 4 bigger guys. I felt extremely bad that I wasn't able to help her there since I myself was being pushed away by others. So she started choking and at one point I got extremely scared and my friends were all freaked out. We were extremely lucky we got to Skybar in time or there is no doubt in my mind that she would have suffocated to death. After this ordeal, the rest of my night was not the same. I am fortunate to say that she managed to recover but I was totally no longer in the mood for partying and the rest of the evening being so packed everywhere in the club didn't help at all.
I have now come to the final conclusion that the owners of Guvernment have absoluately no regard for human lives whatsoever. That place is so overly packed with people there is no way in hell that place is abiding by the fire code. If a fire broke out in that place and they had to evacuate people would be trampled to death and there would be a huge tradgedy.
So anyways to end this off, that pretty much ruined my whole nite. I didn't manage to catch a whole lot of Armin's set and despite trying to get into it at sometime it was almost impossible with all the people everywhere. I spent most of the time dodging Conan the Barbarian and his friends cutting through the dance floor than being able to dance myself.
I really want to say this to a lot of you that no matter how good Guvernment is as a club (which it is from a technical standpoint) that place is run on pure greed. Every single time i go there it just seems to keep getting more packed and packed each time and I think this time it's really hit my limit. Armin could have played the best trance set I've heard in my life but with the way the crowd was moving in there that night as well as the unbearable HEAT (where the are the fans??) I could not take it any longer and alas left before 5am.
I HONESTLY believe that this WILL be my last time going to Guv for a very long time. I know dancing would have been a lot easier being with the big group of TA's but I kinda lost touch with you guys into the night and unfortunately was unable to spot Mr. Beacon Az. Anyhow I hope most of you guys had a lot better time than I did. I'm gonna take a Guv hiatus for a little while. I need to think about a couple of things for a bit.. I was very close to losing someone I really love last night and I think it's sort of changed my mindset.
Cheers to you guys, and hope u keep the good vibes going.:whip: :whip: :whip: |

| OH MY F'ING GOD. Armin just rocked the place, I was there for his whole set and bar none it was the best set i've heard. Cloudwalking, universal nation, Ligaya to name a few tracks that were droped. Armin blasted the place, he was always pumping people up and was just a great DJ behind the decks. |

Yes, Armin played an amazing set... especially near the end. Top notch.
Unfortunately due to the fact that I couldn't move and ppl were always cutting through the crowd, I didn't dance much, which sucks... On a positive note I found the majority of the peeps on a good vibe and I didn't encounter attitude - surprising given the circumstances...
With regards to packing too many people/fire code regulations - if there is enough demand for an event obviously certain rooms are going to get rammed. Guvernment's 'capacity' as I understand it is based upon the whole complex, (sarcasm) so even though it may seem they're REALLY going past 'capacity', it might not be that bad - you know, maybe 40% over capacity.(/sarcasm)... BUT, everywhere I went it was RAMMED, the only places I didn't go to were the orange room & skybar.
$50 @ door was kind of steep too, but once people have lined up that long, what are they to do? Leave? Guv staff knows the crowd and knows that people will pay that much for an event of this size - I just wish it wasn't such a nightmare to move between rooms - and it didn't improve much once you got in the damn room either. :sadgreen:
Time to sleep. |

Guvernment, oh Guvernment...
Got there at 12:00, talked to the bouncer and got by the ridiculous line..
Once inside it was a ing disaster. How can you listen to a set when you can't even breath??
Guv is definitely cashing in and it's quite disgusting. Firecode? what firecode? Swamps it is per room not as a whole. Guv main room was unbearable, if anything went down everyone in there would be in some serious trouble, and I mean serious.
Guvernment has NO regard for human life, they don't care about its customers and it was evident to me that they regards all patrons in there club as mere sheep. How do they get away with this? simple, they are a monopoly at the moment and if you want to hear the best djs you have no other choice but to go to Guv. But this will change sooner than everyone thinks..
Back to my Guv story; I caught the beginning of BBB's set, plain ol bangin house and a bit of Manzones set in the Drink. And that was it! I already have a short fuse when it comes to over crowdedness in nightclubs and my fuse burnt out rather fast. Grabbed my gf and ran the out of there at 1am.
Now that Skybar is finished for the year I doubt I will return to Guv for the rest of the year. What they're doing is bull and I can no longer support their operation in any way.
For those of you who managed to party it up in that mess, congrads, you were/are a human sardine...
That's all I have to say about last night and from the looks of the replies thus far it seems that the majority of us saw the night in the same way...
Peace,

Here is my mixed review (as i'm sure all will be)
Tonight was a true test of humanity! To bear with the obvious disregard for human life by the greed mongering rich ass owners of this "super" club. Everyone who was there knows exactly what i mean it was unbearable at times... I've been to a lot of parties and never have a felt like that.
HOWEVER, incredibly i found the vibe in the place to great. I did not encounter any (ok *much*) attitude. Was a great party vibe and i met lots of interesting people. Including some TAs i've wanted to meet (tatgirl/stereopricess - welcome to TO!!). And of course the regular crew ing had a great time witrh y'all.
I wanted to see a lot more DJs than i did but basically decided that once i set foot in the mairoom i would not dare to leave. Caught the end of bad boy bill and it was ok but it was hard to get in to it since the room too rammed. Infected Mushroom played a realy cool set don't know much of their stuff but it was cool to here some really good psy/goa at a party (although i feel its more suited for a smaller vibe.
Now for ARMIN... Since he's been here so regularly i didn't have the usual "pre-armin jitters". BUT WOW :eyes: everytime he takes it another level. This WAS ARMIN'S christioning for Toronto. When he's here in November they better have him in the Kool Haus because his status here now is HUGE... Our scene is SOO ready for real trance again and its so obvious by the reception he gets here. And holy he played for 2 extra hours and the whole set was PURE CLASS. And in fact he redeemed what looked like a disappointing night.
So in the end i have to give 2 ratings ...
DJs and VIBE - 10/10
Guvernment ownership and Promotion - -1000/10 :whip: :whip:
ARMIN IS GOD
THE GUVERNMENT IS THE DEVIL!

| Okay, so the night didn't look to promising given that the Guv was in full violation of fire codes BUT that did not stop me from seeing ARMIN. I can't believe I actually considered missing his set because of the crowd. I'm soooooooooooooo glad I didn't. I'm a true Armin fan, I paid money to see HIM and I shed many drops of sweat for him. Armin's set last night can basically be summed up as a re-emphasis of his greatness that he displayed at State '01. Just when I thought he couldn't get any better, he did. Holy !!! I listened to his entire set sober, plus I snapped 12 pics of him AND had one the best seats in the house....off to the side on the main stage!!! Armin rules. He's the only d.j on my list. Still in awe that he spun Frank T.R.A.X.X - Nebuchan (o.r.g.n. Mix). Amazing track!!! |
