| When it comes to the price, and this applies to BeB as well.. how much do most people pay to go to concerts at the Bell Center? Madonna tickets are upwards of $300 for an hour and a half to two hours worth of entertainment.. mind you the production value is much greater.. but still. Markus Schulz for $60 for 7-8 hours of dancing and partying of a life time in one of the best clubs in the word? Worth it if thats what you like.. |

Stereo Montreal @MarkusSchulz > BE sure to pack your lunch... and dinner if you want.. We will let you play until whenever you want to stop...

| Yea as Matt said what I wrote wasn't directed at Stereo and this event. $60 IMO is about the most tickets for a night should go for. It's a bit steep but not exorbitant and it seems that Markus is ready to play a looooooooooong set which would definitely make me feel better about buying a ticket if I were to do that. |

In the end, most of those conversations are about ego, and really come down to "I'm a more traveled techno tourist than you" or "I've been to better parties than you" or "I know more about music than you", etc.
|
Bingo. And that is exactly the mentality I avoid in people as much as possible. The way I see it, we're all here to have a good time, we all love this music, so why try to drag each other down with some stupid competition? What do you even win? Someone else loving what I also enjoy passionately isn't a threat to my passion, it's someone to enjoy it with.

Not everyone who likes techno is like this, but it is way more prevelant at certain parties. For example, I heard a LOT of this kind of conversation happening the last time Richie was at Stereo.
|
I'm not a big Richie fan, but I have friends who are, and they're very much guilty of that type of conversation. I put a lot of it down to personal insecurity.

However, with this in mind, although I like Markus, there is no way I would regularly go to trance parties to avoid this kind of attitude. :stongue: |
Haha me either :haha: |

dude no mater where you are in the world im talking in general clubs have over heads and costs to cover most of the time there is a valid reason behind paying these kinds of prices.
apart for places in europe where booze is served until the club actually closes down and the entrance fees are not that expensive north america is stuck in that middle ground.
there is nothing like seeing top talent and asking for a beer at 9 am in the morning to keep going or a latte with 2 shots of baileys and paying 12 euros to get in.
Ibiza on the other hand is in a league of its own 70 euros for cocoon heroes on a monday night !!!! |
haha ok you don't need to tell me this man as you know i've done events before and on top of that im a business student so i hope i know this.... i understand costs need to be covered. but yeah there's just a line to be drawn when things are overkill. that is all im trying to say. And you really can't compare some party in vancouver to Ibiza, where people go willingly to party and have an experience. Its also become a tourist hotspot over the past 5 years. of course things are going to be expensive there...but you probably still get WAY more for your money...if you know where to go. pretty sure pre-sale tickets for the Cocoon night for example is what 50-55 euros. buying at the door is always more expensive anywhere in the world.

It is not location specific. It happens everywhere. A lot of those people are new to the scene and that's what they like... big production, thousands of people, etc. Others would like something more genuine but they don't know it yet and haven't been exposed to other options. Maybe when they are they will look back and laugh at having paid $100 to see Armin, maybe they won't, but that's a doorway they had to pass through to get to where they want to go. It's not their fault they didn't have a friend who took them to some super cool tech-house party, or that one wasn't available in their hometown. Honestly, I'd rather hang with people that are upbeat and down for a party than techno elitists anyway. |
Yeah of course it happens everywhere man, i know this. If you read what i wrote you'd know that I was simply pointing out that Adam was talking about the parties in western canada that the dude was going to and not the markus schulz party that will be happening at stereo.. i wasn't saying it's only a western canada thing.
and i think he said it was for a club night not some huge production. i may be wrong but that's what i understood. he paid that much MULTIPLE times for nights out with DJs like armin where he said it wasn't even good... and good for you that you don't want to hang out with elitists hahaha i'm happy for you..... :gsmile: |

The difference between going to an Armin show and listening to what I've heard you play (just once, warming up for Burridge) is that at least with your stuff at least I'd be able to catch up on some sleep :D |

good one man. as if banging it out before a guy like Burridge would be a wise move. and from a guy who posts a mix but refuses to post a tracklist, yet all tracks came from the top 100 tech house section i'll take that as a compliment.
oh and here's your quote from that night after a quick google search:

Fun night out. Not my favorite Lee set (I prefer his daytime sets over his afterhours sound) but he dropped some rumblers that really caught the crowd. Very nice warm-up set from B-ran eased the crowd into the groove. Much more of a crowd than I was expecting for a Friday. Apparently there is hope that he'll be back at Piknic this year.
Great meeting you Adam and Taface :D |

| Lol nice. We actually agreed before on the reason for not posting tracklists. I've never been to any of the charts in Beatport. What's hot in kick and high hats this week? |
