Oh, yes... Well there is that tremendous gulf between how L4C and I see things but at least he's a fan of someone who is complex and consistent with a mixture of classic and modern sensibilities; and who hasn't jumped the shark with one-trick-pony, pantomimed flashes of talent.

You might have hipster sensibilities but you aren't very gifted when it comes to subtle irony.

Show this song to a 12 year old, and he won't like it because it's not a 4/4 time pop song - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ea1LJYWDepE

not complex, but can still take multiple listens to digest

As far as Metal is concerned, you wouldn't have an ear for music to think progressive Metal, for example, isn't complex. You can't claim to be well versed in complex music yet say something pants-on-head-retarded like 'metal isn't complex'

.

and that is where you are wrong.

Metal is not complex in any way. Technical sure, but complex, only an idiot who gets confused by pyrotechnics would claim that. PLaying fast is not hard. Only amateur musicians or non musicians get impressed by technique that is acquired from simple practice.I could and probably still play every single metallica, Van Halen , Iron Maiden and Pantera on both drums and guitar to the note by heart. there is nothing about music, pick the genre , pick the instrument, that you think you know, i know better.

you are using a relative term. Your knowledge of music spans 30 years, mine spans a few centuries. Radiohead and metal are not what anyone would consider complex in the grand scheme of things.

Well, in the OP's defense, complexity is a relative concept. No offense to him, but it's obvious that he has very little musical knowledge and probably little/no ability to play an instrument; otherwise, he wouldn't be making these absurd comments. To someone like that, a 4-chord song like Creep, or something as simple yet foreign to EDM as prog metal, probably seems incomprehensibly complex. And, of course, we've all seen newb producers proclaim that trance is the modern equivalent of classical music. It seems that a lot of EDM producers have a tendency to go through a phase of exaggerated self-accomplishment when they first start out. Reality and perspective take a while to settle in. It's all part of the process, but it's easy for guys who have been doing it for a long time to forget that we went through it too.

How did they jump shark? They didn't switch to the latest trend and do it half assed attempt. They impressively dabbled in a variety of genres and excelled at them. Hardly 'jumping the shark'.

And again, judging them based on how 'complex' they are is ill conceived . It's a god awful attempt at music criticism

When judging Popular music, you don't judge by things by the grand of scheme things. You judge things in the realm of Popular music.

Not only that, but you're going off this notion that I called their music complex, when I clearly said an album can be over one's head in a variety of ways. Not to mention you baselessly (stupidly) said you're more knowledgeable than me.

And by all means, upload a youtube clip of you playing along with Yngwie Malmsteen's toughest compositions

Certainly, they adroitly flirted with a panoply of styles, lightly raiding the wardrobe of tropes known to a gaggle of eras, and had their hands in many a cultural cookie-pot. Like rakes, they seduced their quarry; bustling with fast words and quick, nimble fingers which flicked open their blouses to reveal the pert bounty, glistening with sweat and then came the rape and plunder; removal of a style's structure that all but fundamentally ignores the substantive foundation and how that informs the outer nuances.

"No. No!" They protest loudly, shrieking in horror. Radioplay insists otherwise. They push her head into the semen encrusted pillow of modern production technique; to muffle her screams. They don't make songs. They produce consumerist smut in the form of snuff films, fit for MTV! And you...

You defend these heinous actions.

First off. IDM's vagina is no doubt heavily concealed. It's as easy and flirtatious as say, EDM..For sure...And, you'd be fooling yourself if you think Jazz Fusion wasn't asking for it. So I think wagging your finger at Radiohead for doing what they did to those genres is a little unnecessary.

But seriously, I know what's going on here..

unnecessarily flowery language, the overuse of metaphors...Clearly you're describing a perverse sexual fantasy starring radiohead and the genres as a the object of abuse.

You're using this contrived bull**** to refer to radiohead when in reality that's the last thing on your mind; the first being their penis in the music's body.

Much like a raging homophobe typically has/has had some homosexual fantasies.

Disgusting.

Not one of the 107 letters I have sent to Penthouse Forum, regarding Radiohead, has been selected for publication. That ought to tell you something.
