Surviving a party "sober"

I have this issue, and I would like to hear out different opinions about it and how to engage it, the more the merrier.
I love EDM, Techno, house, D&B, etc. no need to get into details, all these genres have a beat, and I love going out and dancing to it, thing is, I don't do any drugs, and without them, it is too difficult to dance for hours upon hours, for example going to see an 11 hour set, which would be great experience from beginning to end, and I want to experience it all, but I can't, without any stimulants it's just physically impossible for me to dance for 11 hours, and taking a break after I get exhausted doesn't work for me either really because I don't get as pumped up after I rest, I'm just too exhausted.
I try to manage my clubbing schedule as well as I can, by not drinking too strong alcohol, drinking water every hour or so, having a couple of red bulls during the night, but I still can't help being exhausted after about 5-6 hours.
Is it really impossible to enjoy the entire night?
I'd love to hear some advice or opinion on the matter, Thanks TA |

Ignore the insults.
Don't worry about the whole night, if you had a great time and enjoyed yourself, that's all that matters. Why push yourself past your limits? Don't exhaust yourself hours after you've enjoyed yourself, don't feel tempted/pressured to resort to any stimulant assistance either. Be happy about what makes you feel good, don't worry about feeling like other people.
I don't know why this bothers you, this isn't something someone should need advice for, it's personal preference. If you want to stop early, that's fine. If you want to push yourself, that's also fine. Do what you want. |

Enjoying the whole night doesn't mean you have to dance 11 hours straight. There's more to a proper party than just dancing, fun though it may be. Use downtime to socialize with others.
If you must be a dancefloor warrior though, you can always fall back on the 'stand in one spot fist-pump' method for breathers. |

Being young helps and caffeine...
In HS there were plenty of Friday night all-nighters that required going to school all day and then being up all night. Was able to do that sober a number of times.
Course falling asleep with your face in a plate of Denny's french toast was a risk... :nervous:
I did fall asleep during one of PvD's album release tour stops though, but thats probably understandable. :p |

Thanks for the replies, so, first of all it's not about being a , i'm going out 2 times a week, if i'd do drugs everytime i go out, a. it would make me totally dependent when i go out, It means i'll need a drug every time I go out or else I wouldn't have "that same fun", b. Do you understand what a sh*t load of money it would cost? c. I'm not anti drugs, I just want to enjoy without them.
And I'm not trying to be like someone else mate, I just don't want to miss a single piece of the set, I enjoy the opening resident set as much as I'd enjoy the peak hour. When I go home I feel like I've missed out, not that I didn't make it like everybody else.
And I'm young, just 23, When I'm Dj'ing there's no problem for me to stay awake, I'm very engaged in what I'm doing, but when I'm dancing, It's that much harder |

11 hours of non-stop dancing without drugs is nearly impossible, at least for me. Like you, I don't do drugs and most times I'm the driver so I don't drink a lot too. Most parties I go to last for 5 hours (for me that is.. most of the times we begin at around 24h, end at 5h). Almost all parties I go to, are with the same two friends. None of us do drugs and while we do drink, it's a hassel having to walk back and forth from the dance floor to the bar and back, plus it's incovenient having to dance with drinks in your hand. We don't go to after parties because we all have to play football the next day (if it's on Saturday night). But even after 5 hours, I get tired because I've been hopping, wiggling, shuffling, whatever.. so if by then the music, vibe and people (girls in particular) have been great, that's all I need to go home feeling satisfied, and with a smile on my face.
Like Anxieties and Sykonee said, just enjoy the night for as long as you like.. why insist on doing 11 hours? For that matter, where do they even throw parties like that.. Studio 80 perhaps, or do you go to parties in Belgium and/or Germany a lot? |

Not much to add to what's been said. But maybe you should accept that if you miss the first 5 hours, you haven't missed anything.
When I used to go out we mostly stayed till 5 in the morning, closing time. When we got older we arrived after 23:00 and at the end we also were exhausted. I remember arriving before 23:00 especially in Belgium clubs you probably were the first to enter, so most is aimed at those 6 hours of joy. |

| It can be done, but you probably won't enjoy the last few hours. I once went to Labor of Love, started out at about 9 pm and by 7 am I was so tired that I could barely stand on my feet. No drugs and barely any alcohol. The worst thing about it was that I still had a 4 hour drive home ahead of me. |

11 hours with stimulants is going to pretty tough, or near impossible for the average person.
When you're dancing, you do about as much excercise and cardio as jogging, so good luck jogging for 11 hours straight.
My last marathon club night was Carl Cox in Vegas. Got to the club just after 1am thinking he'd be on at 2am.
Then find out he's not coming on until after 5am. Stayed to 9:30am, had one of the best nights in years and even though the club was still bumping when I left (apparently went on until 11am), I don't don't feel I missed anything. Had a great time and if I had stayed later it would have become a chore and ruined the night.
Do what you can and don't force it just to stay all night on principle. Years ago when clubbing in London, it got to the point we'd enter the club just before 2am (nor more entries) and stay until 6am (closing) just to have 4 hours of peak time ravetastic unicorn worshipping. |

You can get drugs to keep you going all night for £10, and all you need is a bottle of water you can refill for free. It's actually a lot cheaper than drinking alcohol and Red Bull all night.
The simple fact is that a dance music event is structured around people taking drugs, and if you aren't taking them, you aren't getting the full experience. |

pretty much. No amount of hillbilly caffeine will keep your body from doing what it can't do. Even if you are hydrating and getting nutrients at the same time. 4-5 hours is pretty much my shelf life. Or if by chance i took too many drugs and realized i was probably going to be one of those idiots on the floor , i would just leave and accept the fact that i passed that threshold and everything i do from this point on will be full on retard. I keep that at home. And the internet.
Also, sober people just suck the fun out of anything. Stay home. Dance while you clean. The last thing a party needs is another dude just standing there watching. Take your drugs, dance , and leave when are done dancing. I don't get those people that are juts sitting on their ass waiting for something. |
