I was going to but the I realized, he doesn't have a ing clue.
I mean selling hs80's for KRK because he thinks KRK have "more detail". I honestly don't know where to begin except a hearing test, preferably intervention style.
You know, his whole family fake a meeting with him, sit little Jayx down, and then really tell him why he's there, and these nice men are going "help" him.
Aside from the fact EDM is probably the foremost (and quite possibly the only) format where you mix as you produce so in that respect a bias towards mixing technique is favourable, you couldn;t have said it better. Detail is needed for mixing, far beyond what is needed for producing.
Producing is about ideas, arrangement, structure, etc....it's actually not an engineering discipline in the true sense so actually needing detailed monitors is less crucial than to a mix engineer, but again seeing as in EDM you're both (often at the same time), and in most cases the sound designer and engineer as well, you kind of really need detailed monitors.
honestly, I don't know why I bother sometimes. It's people like him that make me want to chop my own dick off so my unborn children won't be subjected to that level of stupidity.
