The internet is buzzing with news that a previously unheard Daft Punk track may have been leaked.

A song called 'Emphazed' has made its way onto YouTube and it's being claimed that the track is a brand new jam from electro's most famous duo.

The authenticity of the tune has the Mixmag office split. Some of us reckon it's a right duff, while others think it does bear some classic Daft Punk qualities.

We couldn't get the boys on the blower but some fans aren't convinced. Top electro blog HarderBloggerFaster.com reckons: "The dude who uploaded it emailed it to me a couple of days ago - too generic for me. If real it would have been taken down by now."

So... What do you lot think?

If it sounds generic than it probably is a Daft Punk song. When I think of Daft Punk's music, I put on par with Aqua Barbie Girl. Daft Punk got big when they were sampled in a Kanye West song, that is when the manufactured hype began, funny enough the same producer is also a urban turntablist who now In EDM, he got into EDM in 2006, after Put Your Hands Up For Detroit came out, before that he never was, or talked on electronic music.

I have never understood why anyone would label Daft Punk electronic music, they make cheesy French Disco/House/Urban, not electronic. They are not even in the conversation of electronic music, they are not part of that.

As I stated when I think of Daft Punk's music ability I put it up with Aqua Barbie Girl, cheese Euro masquerading as electronic music.

This sounds like something I would make, meaning its complete e.

^^^ Wow you guys actually read his thoughts on things? That's like listening to Don Cherry comment on the current turmoil in the Middle East...

As for the track I don't see this as being real just because as mentioned if it was they'd be all over taking it down. Perhaps an intentional leak to create hype but when it comes to Daft Punk that would be pretty unnecessary. Just announcing deets on a new album would get them more than enough imo.

Daft Punk is akin to Aqua, Barbie Girl, & Around The World are the same genre of music, neither is electronic, both are like cheesy Euro. Show me some facts that show what I said was incorrect. Daft Punk did explode after they got sampled in a Kanye West song, they were sampled by a urban turntables who now claims EDM, before that they were never even apart of the conversation of electronic music, they were a on going joke with their stage shows used to cover up their lack of talent like infected mushroom.

Your comparison is off, if you are trying to use a metaphor the best one is, if I was like Don Cheery, the subject of music(Daft Punk) would be Hockey. If I said something that is wrong feel free to share counter points.

As I stated, & showed, Daft Punk is akin to Aqua, they are not electronic music, & they got popular because of being sampled in Urban music, why do you think all the people who got into EDM after Put Your hands Up For Detroit mention, & site Daft Punk as influence (hint it is because they were doing urban music before 2006, & Daft Punk was sampled by a urban artist.

What did you find humorous? If you disagree with what I said show me some counter proof, if not your point is mute. I do not know how long you have been listening to Electronic music, or your knowledge of it, but anyone that knows electronic music, knows Daft Punk is not it, they never have been, they are musically on the same level as Aqua, neither are electronic. To be truly honest, they are tthe basis for artists like Deadmau5 & "EDM", Deadmau5 probably thought Around The World" & "Barbie Girl" were the groundbreaking music because he music sounds similar to those, but his music doesn't sound like electronic, only 1 song really did.
