The United States constitution is innately secular.
Yes, we have an immense Christian lobby in the US, but that is because our government is designed to be a forum of sorts; everyone ought to have an equal opportunity of representation, with regard for basic rights. It's precisely why secularism requires a voice in our country, and atheists need continue to speak out against theocratic idiocy. |

and all have non predatory governments, have a sound financial system, have entrepreneurship as a backbone and sophisticated managerial capabilities....this has very little to do with their faith you in dumbass.
Don't mix religion with basic economic theory |

Countries which took advantage of Africa & Asia centuries ago? Countries that have already settled all (or at least most) of their political and geographic boundaries? Countries that have managed to set up strong governments and judicial systems? Oh yes, atheism will save us all. |

A good point if all lobbying and representation were created equal, but much like Brazil, the US overwhelmingly identifies as Catholic. The fact of the matter is that - although it would take time(especially when it comes to issues like drugs! leaveitthere)- for legislation and the democratic process to push through, the current Pope could come out tomorrow morning, and say that condoms are nowhere near as evil as AIDS and the binds of women to the reproductive cycle and rearing are oppressive, with its thoroughly unmanaged domestic tolls and deprivation of women in the workforce, a number that some economists appraise at the addition of a new India to the worldwide workplace. Birth control is fine!
But no, religious thought will get its say, outside of the deification of the pontiff, despite what its holiest of books says of Idolatry. Funny, that.
No, it has little to do with a single person who believes there is a creator being. That's fine, there's no verifiable evidence as such, but it does not harm anyone. But the sociopolitical and economic opportunity toll it wreaks is immense, and theists would do well to recognize the immeasurable power they collectively wield in lieu of democracy's crutches. |
