Hence the smiley (it was supposed to be a joke).

A good point if all lobbying and representation were created equal, but much like Brazil, the US overwhelmingly identifies as Catholic. The fact of the matter is that - although it would take time(especially when it comes to issues like drugs! leaveitthere)- for legislation and the democratic process to push through, the current Pope could come out tomorrow morning, and say that condoms are nowhere near as evil as AIDS and the binds of women to the reproductive cycle and rearing, with its thoroughly unmanaged tolls and deprivation of women in the workforce, a number that some economists appraise at the addition of a new India to the worldwide workplace.
But no, religious thought will get its say, outside of the deification of the pontiff, despite what it holiest of books says of Idolatry. Funny, that.
No, it has little to do with a single person who believes there is a creator being. That's fine, there's no verifiable evidence as such, but it does not harm anyone. But the sociopolitical and economic opportunity toll it wreaks is immense, and theists would do well to recognize the immeasurable power they collectively wield in lieu of democracy's crutches. |
And that's fine, really, until the majority fails to understand that, in a democracy, everyone should have their rights respected, and the tyranny of the majority should be avoided at all costs.
...
Teaching that in schools is probably as important as teaching proper science. |

Atheists everyone are constantly being harassed and persecuted based on their beliefs. Earlier today a small furry animal tried to convert me.

Suffice to say, he was unsuccessful and ended up being cooked for dinner instead. |

Birth control is fine!

if 70% of the population was atheist and I was in politics, I would listen to whatever they had to say as well. It has nothing more to do then votes.
Politicians care about votes the same way corporations only care about profits.
that is the world we live in and if people don't like it they should reant a room in nou's mom's basement and help him script fart seeking deadly hamster missiles in his video game and help him in his life long mission to one day take over Scandinavia...virtually |

Lets just say there's one forum I post on that is 50/50 christian but all 15 or so mods are atheist.
Hence why I'm wondering.
Moderators are an anarcho syndicalist commune who are elected by their duly elected representative... and violence is inherent in the system or something. |

Yes, and it's a problem. It's easy enough to say 'that's just the world we live in', but you live in a free and democratic society- it is your charge to speak out against the things you do not believe are right, and no we will never truly change the status quo on tranceaddict.com, we ought not treat the discourse of forums as useless, lest we debase the the very process of debate in the first place. It has a place in every worthwhile government, and to refuse as such is how fascism feeds. |

| so in the end, its not religion you're against. It's democracy that is flawed. Everyone can live in a happy unison if there wasn't power in numbers. |
