Oh really? how about his website because the info is on there. How lazy are you? lol

Marquee :disbelief

despite the rather questionable design on dubfire's site, did see the listing there as well.

BUT:
"closed for renovations", see:
http://www.marqueeny.com/

Don't know the place, never been there, what gives?
More important question:

when this place was open / is reopened, is it the kind of M&B place like LeBain, Provo, where you get to stand in line, only to be turned away for whatever, or more like the venues people on TA frequent (cielo, even pacha, system, etc)?

Guess I asking someone here who knows, any point in even bothering about going for Dubfire?

That's what it's been in the past, but maybe not as bad as the examples above. I went a few times with girl friends bak in the day and it wasn't terrible. They actually had good sound, though top 40s dance. It could be decent on the re-open but who knows. Dubfire is good enough that I'd be willing to check it out for this event at least and judge for myself.

Great meeting you at Luciano, Cars. On part 2/3 of that Norman Nodge set and the past 40 minutes has been killer.

Marquee is probably going to be a blend between those two examples. It used to be a models and bottles spot (one of the original examples of Le Bain, Provo, etc) but their Vegas location is pulling in huge DJs and filling the space instead of being exclusive. They're trying to open a scaled down version of their Vegas location.

I'm guessing this means it will operate similarly, meaning that if you dress nicely and go early, it won't be too difficult to get into (girls help), but it will be more expensive and difficult to get into as the night goes on. I think a lot of their Vegas shows are also open to anyone as long as you buy a ticket (but not all events are ticketed, some are just cover charges).

Finally, since it's their opening party, I would guess that it will be more difficult to get into than future shows (i.e friends & family). I've heard James Zabiela will be there in February, so I may wait to see what the reports are like and try for that show.

thanks for the update (lounger's too).
hate to miss dubfire, esp.considering the blk disaster, but seeing as there is so much other good stuff that night, just don't have any patience for even the door-lite they may be doing.

still hoping that blk will do a dubfire makeup.

Norman Nodge:
yeah!
I find it killer, but can be strangely relaxing, sometimes listen to it right at bed time (that IS meant as a compliment), some of the only edm i listen to as canned stuff....

location is of course a place worth doing the horrendous line.
(also like the first 20+ min of p1.
too bad we cant get him in NYC.

BTW, did the Subfractal on Sunday, awesome set, they're back on 1/26 and 2/2, worth your time ...

thx all
Chaska
I went to Marquee once. It was horrible :nervous: It wasn't a pain to get into though.

With that said, I'm looking forward to this place opening (although my expectations for it are rather low). It was said that the VIP room was going to be eliminated and the dancefloor was going to be expanded... They are getting good names right off the bat and Marquee 2.0 is said to be more music-oriented than the original formula. It still won't be a Brooklyn warehouse but I have hopes that it will be a decent alternative... more clubs will always be a good thing for the NY scene.

Apparently it is under new management and they are bringing in other talent and trying to change the direction of the club... or so I hear.

It may not reopen to be the same way it once was, but that's just pure speculation. Guess we will just have to find out :p
