I think Holden is a classic example of the electronic produer inferiority complex. He constantly disses his old material and tries so hard to prove himself as a musician of value.
And yeah, experimental music can be very . I honestly often think "experimental" music is even more formulaic than dance music. When you hear the word "experimental" you immediately think of tried and tested sounds and formulas, prety ironic, isn't it? |

I don't know, I tend to think that experimental music in the true sense of term is by definition new, boundary-pushing, and less predictable than its competition.
Of course, there are a lot of cases where "experimental" is just used casually to refer to any old thing with a lot of dissonance or noisy sounds, or a general lack of melody, which can certainly become predictable in its own way. |

| Hey, I cant help the fact I enjoy Holden and his label as much as I do. I cant help that James has made a couple of my all-time favorite sets. The guy definitely is on his own field and id find it hard to compare him with just another "experimental" artist. Apparently if I read "The Wire" my opinions on how I feel about their music will change. The reason why I think everybody hates is because Holden no longer makes the music he used to and people expect him to. As if he is bound to a particular way of making music. Why not just enjoy what this guy has to offer? I doubt that brilliant mind of his fell out of his head. |

No, it's definitely because he's an obnoxious self-obsessed prick who constantly feels the need to validate his own music by ting on the work of others. Are you really so blinded by helpless fanboy love that you can't see why people find that behaviour intolerable? |

James Holden is an artist that isnt understood but is definitely leagues ahead of most of the mainstream artists out there. It takes a certain kind of appreciation and openness to enjoy this style music. I LOVE Old AND New Holden. Been looking forward to this album for a while. I personally look forward to anything he touches or creates simply because it is pure and real. Not at all like anything els. Organic. Original. Everything he says his music is and I greatly appreciate it.
The haters are going to hate but at least he isnt trying to make music to impress a bunch of idiots. After seeing the soundcloud release of this song I knew I had to come on here just to see everyones justification for talking smack. |
Oh shut the up. You love Holden. Great. Why, then, should it matter what other people think about him? Be content with what you like - if you like it, then like it and ing own it. But respect the opinions of others at the same time, and learn not to let the personal tastes of others upset you. |

How arrogant he is means nothing to me and it doesnt sway my decision as to what or who I listen to. You are all getting mad at me because I dont agree with you. Hate on him all you want but im still going to buy this album. I cant wait! |

Sounds kinda like a production that went through no quality control or review at any stage even by its creator after being recorded in one session and was released as is with no regards to flow or continuity of its individual parts.
I could see someone hammering this out in 5 minutes while off their at the start of a sketchy research chemical binge. |

This times ten! Holden was and is still talented. for all the bad stuff he makes now, there are still moments that are sublime and at least he is attempting to make interesting music. but no one likes a douchepump, especially one that literally takes a not only on every other producer who isnt make similar work to his new phase, but on people who even listened and liked his older material. the guy is basically insulting even his fanboys. if you are going to do that, you better be picasso, joyce, wagner, welles, etc. to back it up. |
