The Space Brothers - Legacy (Matt Darey Remix)
I shouldn't have to give an example of Oakenfold's mixing to someone who claims to be able to DJ. If you have any understanding of DJing, just listen to any of his live-sets (ones where you can actually hear the live mixing, rather than his mocked-up-in-the-studio "live" sessions like the Rojam mix) and you'll be able to hear for yourself.
it was just a request you dick. perhaps I asked because I haven't listened to enough of his comps and sets.

adding to Floorfiller's point, there was once a korean TA member (dj tek) who got tired of Silence (Tiesto mix) being hammered to death. I guess you either love it or hate it.
I skimmed through Oakey's amnesia mix to find out what the problem is(dick move I know).
Nonetheless, I gotta admit the mixing was pretty rough. the mixing around 8:20, 13:03, 15:35, 32:30 etc. are some of the parts I wanted to point out. Same goes for his Oslo comp. I'm not a drum n bass fanatic but some of the transitions do sound sketchy in disc 1.
but he doesn't botch literally every transition as yall are making it out to be. he does know how to mix, but he just doesn't put in the effort.

I didn't say he botched every transition. I said he had poor control of energy levels due to picking extremely safe cue points most of the time. He had to pick short, easy transitions because he wasn't very good technically and that limited his control over set programming.

There's a difference between a rough transition and a straight-up trainwreck, and Oakenfold was galloping horses throughout the majority of his set. Depending upon how much the blown monitor had to do with it, that's not laziness, that's utter incompetence.
Listen to some of the (much older) Sasha & Digweed sets if you want to contrast using very purposeful cue points in order to create something that's more than the sum of its parts with serviceable mixing that simply does the job. If all you're doing with your transitions is transitioning, then you don't know how to use transitions.

I like the first 2 minutes of the track with those whispering vocals. After that, it somehow turns into a cheesefest.

Chicane's saltwater and oakenfold's southern sun made me fall in love with trance back then.
