so if a government agent goes into your home while you are asleep or away, doesn't take or move anything, just looks around, no harm is created? is that how you really feel?
how this for the harm. Peace of mind in the privacy of ones property or person. is that not enough?
edit
'sinister misuse of said data' does not need be proved to find violations of the rights guaranteed to Americans in the fourth amendment. |

pretty much. when you can’t even get your analogy to work it really is a race to the bottom. and invariably Sergeant head will then claim victory or that their arguments are just too amazing for you to deal with lol! |

i'd rather not argue on the internet. i have better things to do.
i really don't care that much of any non-US citizen is apathetic about this topic. its not like they would have much influence here anyway. |

If you use Facebook or Google, they have more information on you than the NSA ever will. |
Despite the fact that I agreed with you when you and I had this discussion yesterday, I would like to redact what I said. The NSA has direct access to all of the data that FB/Google have on you.

Edit: I suppose that I should clarify, I'm not trying to allege that this is currently being misused. I get why it exists, and I'm all for doing what you can to monitor terrorist communications. However, the fact that it exists in such secrecy and that the program "allows the NSA ... to obtain targeted communications without having to request them from the service providers and without having to obtain individual court orders" is disturbing. I highly doubt that it is being misused in any sense of the word because I know quite a few people who would've already been detained at customs had the government been monitoring their Facebook posts, but the constitutionality of it is questionable. Not only that, and I hate to sound paranoid here because this isn't my usual train of thought, but this is a program that certainly has the potential to be misused in the event that citizens begin to "get out of hand" and really start to demand that the government stop doing like this. |
