I don't buy that he set out to murder this poor kid, but his willingness to engage someone who had done absolutely nothing wrong, and start an altercation he was most assuredly not prepared to finish by any civil standards - despite being told NOT to do so by law enforcement immediately prior - has caused untold grief to the child's family, and reverberations throughout race relations in this country. Voluntary manslaughter should have been the most obvious charge. But then again, Florida. |

Because Zimmerman is an irresponsible coward at best.

What makes him a coward?

How do you know he hadn't just previously done something wrong, or was on his way to do something wrong. Furthermore, how do you know he started the altercation? Perhaps he approached Trayvon in a civil matter and then got attacked. You don't know and neither does anybody but George Zimmerman. Besides, the prosecution's star witness testified that she repeatedly told him to run. Why didn't he? Maybe he was looking for a fight. Maybe he wanted to tune up that "creepy ass cracker."

911 dispatchers are not law enforcement. They tell anyone to avoid confrontation at any cost. Someone could break into my house, and if I call 911 with my fiance's 9mm in my hand they'd tell me to put it down and hide in a closet.

Nope, besides the grief to the "child"'s parents (I really hate people referring to him as a child, that dude was a man, a 17 year old is not a child), the race relations in the country being strained are due to the media and people such as yourself making this about race. If Zimmerman had been anything but white looking, nobody would care.
Lastly, Voluntary manslaughter would require the Zimmerman killed him in an unlawful and unjustifiable manner. Since it was pretty clearly in self defense due to witness testimony and the substantial wounds on his face and head, it was pretty obviously self defense, and thus justifiable. |

| Regardless, it's not what you think or what your emotions or "gut" tells you, it's what evidence can prove. This was an appropriate sentence given the evidence that the prosecution had. |

| Why is this getting so much attention anyway? Seems like a common case in the US. |

| It is. Stuff like this happens every day. The only reason it's getting any attention is because George Zimmerman isn't black. |

Does anyone think the protests are a bit myopic? Shouldn't they be protesting the lawmakers who still support this 'stand your ground' law.
I also wonder how many of them know about Martin's cellphone media and alleged prior history of burglary. The media seems to be really whitewashing his past. |

Too true...sadly this is actually theater for some tards out there. I'm sick of acting like this is something special with people at work. This type of happens everyday and people don't care until the media makes a circus out of it...then they act like they care so much.
LOL@pic but sound advice people should take instead of being so viscerally revved up. The majority of people protesting seem to not understand attorneys don't act on emotions. |

Prosecution botched this so badly. Seems to be a North Florida deal with their DAs though. Casey Anthony, this, pathetic attempts to extract more than they should be able to get from the justice system. Quit trying to make names for yourselves you ing idiots and prosecute a decent case.
I hope this is not indicative of the new wave of young attorneys entering public and what their goals are. You are public servants, do it wisely, don't waste tax payer money trying to use this is a stage to land a sweet private gig, it won't work. |
